there are too many good 2d games on too many consoles. For the prettiest graphics, I think you really cant beat Odin Sphere, but I love my SNES more than anything i own and say that it probably has the best 2d games you can get (FFIV, Terranigma, LoZ:LttP, Super Metroid, etc)
Consoles Owned: Nintendo SNES, Nintendo GameBoy Color, Nintendo GBA, Sony PSX, PS2, PS3, Sega Master, Microsoft XBox

Re: whats the best 2dconsole/handheld
Well, on the console side I'd say strictly speaking the Genesis/SNES have MORE 2D games than any other systems simply b/c that's what they could/did do. However, in my opinion the Saturn is the best 2D producing console to date, and games like Guardian Heroes prove it.moses155 wrote:i was wondering what was the best console that was the best with 2d

On the handheld front I'd say the NGP(C) has a lot of great 2D games but the variety is somewhat lacking (a lot of fighting and some decent puzzle games). The GBA undoubtedly has more 2D games than the DS, but obviously you can play them on the DS. I'd say for variety and quality the GBA wins. There are still a lot of great 2D games on the DS though. To name a few of my favorites: Contact, Glory Days, New SUper Mario Bros. (not strictly 2D), Yoshi Touch and Go.

Oh you are missing out not knowing the saturn too bad. For me 2d gaming in handhelds would be the GBA and on consoles genesis, snes and saturn. All because of quantity and quality of 2d titles released for them.

I agree, but "most beautiful" certainly doesn't automatically equate to "best." There are plenty of relatively poor looking 2D (and 3D) games that are still really great.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:actually that would make pretty cool article if somebody is willing to do it!aaron wrote:i think a better thread would be best examples of beautiful 2D graphics on every console.
To the TC: are you asking about the best looking 2D on consoles and handhelds?
