House of the Dead 2

Post by ElkinFencer10 »

So, I've got a dilemma, and I was hoping to get some input. I recently ordered House of the Dead for Saturn, but I don't know what to do about the next two games in the series. I was going to buy House of the Dead 2 for Dreamcast, but I looked at House of the Dead 3, and I don't have a system that will play it. I could, however, get House of the Dead 2 and 3 Reloaded for Wii. My question is, should I get 2 for DC and wait until I buy an Xbox to get 3? Or should I get the rerelease compilation for Wii? Is there any extra or anything in the Wii version that makes it worth it to get?

What display screen are you going to use? House of the Dead needs a lightgun or a sensor remote to really be enjoyed. Why not get a couple of different versions?

The Dreamcast House of the Dead is very good but needs a standard definition CRT TV for the lightgun to work. However, the same Dreamcast game with lightgun works beautiful with a VGA CRT computer monitor.

The Wii is a great "Lightgun" supported console for HDTVs. The remote is part of the original package and not an add on as the PS3 Move and 360 Kinnect. This means any Lightgun game is already supported and works fine with the remote, no plastic shell needed.

Since i have all the house of the dead games The dreamcast version is my favorite
i may have a spare copy running around my house. I know i have a few spare xbox systems at my place. I think it's more fun on dc with a gun versus xbox with a controller i have the gun for xbox but it is very front heavy when you break it down to pistol.

As much as I love light gun games, I don't actually enjoy using light guns. When I play House of the Dead on the Saturn, I'd rather play with a controller, aiming hurts my eyes (maybe I should get them checked? lol) and the guns just don't seem all that accurate (again, maybe an eye problem? haha).

Also, I agree with CRTGAMER, the Wii remote practically has a light gun built in, which is very convenient. You can just buy the game and you're ready to go. You don't have to worry about paying for two seperate games (and light guns). Not to mention all of the US Dreamcast light guns either look stupid or suck (from what I've heard).

As far as bonus content, I'm not sure. I know the Wii has unlockable diffilculty levels and such, and I've read something about the xbox version of 3 but I can't remember what it was. haha

Got the MadCatz Dream Blaster last year so I could play HOTD 2 the way it was intended to on the Dreamcast. After initial calibration, it plays pretty damn sweet. Auto Fire and Auto Reload are available. Plus, you can put a Jump Pack in the back for that extra kick.

As for the game, lots of good training modes and the DC Original mode makes this port a good one to look at.

I so want an Autofire Remote for the Wii. This is where the Dreamcast excels, the built in machine gun in the different lightguns! Oh yeah and that beautiful kickback with a Madcatz add on vibration pack.

I've got an LCD that I use mainly, but I have an old CRT right beside it. I think I'll probably go with the Wii version for now, but if I do end up getting any DC light guns and another (of the very few) DC light gun games, I'll probably grab it for DC anyway. Thanks for the input, guys. :D

I can confirm this. I have the same gun and it works great.

Ok, we have confirmed that the MadCatz Dream Blaster is a good gun, but it would still go under the "looks stupid" category. haha

Whoa now! Rippin on DC controllers and now this? The Dream Blaster actually bears a resemblance to the official DC gun released in Japan and Europe.

Did the N64 ever have a light gun?

In fact, my DC gun game collection is nearly complete.

Virtua Cop 2 (off the god awful Sega Smash pack)

Just need Death Crimson OX.
