Um, have you seen Fincher's recent work? Zodiac, The Social Network, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo are all excellent, each getting awards and nominations from a variety of outlets (including the Oscars for two of them). I don't think that Shadows of the Damned or the No More Heroes games are anything like these in terms of their accomplishment in their respective medium.

I can't help feel like you know extremely little about either person of their trajectory.

Zodiac was All The President's Men without the intrigue, payoff or acting to reward its considerable running time and I walked out of The Social Network, so that's probably where our disagreement arises. I think I've already expressed my distaste for public opinion and especially the Oscars enough times to avoid restating any of that here. Fincher is a master of composition and mood, but all of his recent movies have fallen short for me. I saw Benjamin on faith and TSN on latent hope after being disappointed, but I skipped last December's release because Fincher's name has finally lost its pull for me and I'm starting to feel the same way about Suda.

My tendency to post once, edit thrice making conversations confusing as always.

Zodiac is nothing like All The President's Men, I don't get that comparison at all. And if you were interested enough to start watching a movie about Facebook, what would make you decide to walk out of The Social Network?

I'm sorry but Fincher is a master director who can tell and shoot a story in a way that gives him very few peers in the current movie industry. Suda is a niche and occasionally fascinating character who takes a lot more risks and produces games that always mix a wide range of influences and ideas into a product that is full of hits and misses - there's almost always something intriguing and inventive, but there's also always a sense of rough edges and unrealized or poorly executed ideas. It is an endearing quality and gives his games a more "indie" vibe, but comparing him to a masterful and accomplished film director is just inane. I think comparisons to well-known genre directors might make more sense.

First of all it definitely bears restating:

What? I don't even know where to begin if we can't find common ground on that one. But then, apparently I'm the only one that thinks John Q is the black version of Dog Day Afternoon, so I could be crazy (breaking my multi-quote rule makes me queasy)

I just don't see it in Fincher anymore. Two years ago I would've been belting the same tune, but you need to understand that the

OT question @ Dsh

Suda didn't make Sine Mora? Was it just Suda studios or something? Genuinely curious.

Killer 7 is the only Suda game I have apparently played, and I thought it was fantastic. I guess I need to try out some more of his games. I'll keep an eye out for No More Heroes.

Every time I see something about this game I read the title as suda 51 has been killed.

Also I just picked up shadows of the damned and wasn't very impressed with that so I am not really looking forward to any of his new games but hey that's just me.
