What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

@Luke.

You didn't like Rob's Halloweens? I was happily suprised. As much as I love 80's slashers, Halloween never stuck with me. It was meh. But Rob's felt much better to me, and I enjoyed it.

Carpenter's HALLOWEEN is way more of an intense thriller than a slasher flick. It's more about keeping you on edge than it is about gore, more about creating a palpable sense of fear than mindless violence. The victims are easy to relate to, and not for a second do you think anyone will make it out alive. Plus, the way the movie is shot is pretty damned amazing. From the tone to every word of dialogue to a character's body language, everything matters, even gasps for air.

Rob's Halloween was garbage. Consider a scene where a young Mike Myers mutilates animals and masturbates. It's a petty attempt to get a rise out of someone, which is essentially all rob can try to do. Trust me, when you watch mr.zombie's halloween in a few years (if not today) you'll notice how there is no real "horror" to it. Just some slayings with the victims seemingly just standing around holding their dicks while absolutely nothing else happens. There is no connection, nor does the audience care for the victims, it's just a movie about a super killer who can't be stopped. There is no substance, no actual story, so zombies Halloween goes in my circular file.

80% of critics agree with me. Not by a small margin mind you, 80%.

As always, like whatever you like, and I like some garbage too but I will admit when garbage is garbage.

"zombie's" Halloween is garbage.

I watched the movie again. That one scene Luke described literally destroyed my view of the movie. It was great otherwise.

I understand the sexual connections with these phsychopaths, but do we really need it shown?

Your first problem is paying attention to critics' views when assessing horror films. If there's one genre that is consistently and repeatedly slogged by critics, it is horror.

I, as everyone, have my share of problems, but forming my own opinion isn't one of them. Especially when it comes to movies.

When criticizing a movie I always ask myself "Why would anyone want to watch this?". Robert's Halloween left me without an answer. Plenty of set up with no pay off.
