Is there such thing as a "normal" tetris game for any home console?
Im a pretty avid fan of tetris, and have yet to find a tetris game for a home console that doesnt have some new, unnecessary feature.
If any one could list off a few, itd be very appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by unnecessary features. Are you referring to new standard of Tetris rules? Most games now will have a "hold" piece and you can keep spinning after the block has hit the bottom.
Anyway, I personally recommend Tetris Evolution for 360. It's got a buttload of features, and you can play a standard marathon mode if you want. I can't really go back to playing the original Gameboy game now.

Re: Tetris
Most of those newer Tetris games with unnecessary features have the ability to turn those features off.RemyC wrote:Is there such thing as a "normal" tetris game for any home console?

So even with newer games you can customize it to the old stuborn tetris.
Perhaps after you learn how to play well, you'll gradually start to appreciate these features.
Those unnecessary features are included to provide faster gameplay instead of the regular boring slow Tetris variants.
Go to http://www.tetrisconcept.com/forum/ and learn all about Tetris and all variants, check out their wiki!
Also it would help to list the system(s) you'd want it for/have!
yea. sometimes the holding of the pieces can save your butt when your playing on the higher difficulty levels.
i've been addicted to tetris ever since i got it with my gameboy back when they came out. its still the best to me.
I own several versions of tetris, my favs being the nes, gameby and the wonderswan one.
funny thing is that my doctors said to quit those game for awhile cause i started having issues [i would look at random things and play tetris with them in my head...] parents thought i was losing it.

I have the WS version, got it last week.
SWEET!
Indeed, Tetris is probably the most intense game I ever played.
I'm playing Tetris Kiwamemichi and I got the Sega Ages version on the way. both ps2 NTSC-J onlies.
Hey, I would love to see an animation of what was going through your head. random things? like what?
Really, I'd love to hear!

hehe.
well, it was really random. for example, i used to work with deliveries and boxes [shipping basically] and i would stop and stare at the boxes, and just rearrange them, and i would hum the tetris tunes. sometimes the mind tetris did good by helping me stack the boxes more efficiently, sometimes i would get stuck and just stare at the boxes for a long time... which is why they moved me to the front to a desk.
but it got really freaking intense not to long ago. i played the gamboy tetris, and the wonderswan one for days on end trying to beat my scores everytime. in the gameboy one, i remember getting past 300,000 points, and about 200,000 in the wonderswan one. but then, since i played too much, and i mean toooo much, i would close my eyes and just see tetris playing, and i dont mean just like floating pieces every now and then, i mean serious tetris, pieces falling, and leaving gaps and shit and the tunes wouldn't stop playing in my head... especially that wonderswan tune... for some reason its sooo annoyingly catchy... my god it was bad and i did freakout once in public. I was complaining to my girlfriend about it one day we were going to the movies, and i think i had some crap in my eye that made me close and rub it, and i yelled out "GODDAMN TETRIS!" cause i would drift away and start watching the tetris game instead of listening to my girlfriend.
-sighs- i've since stopped with tetris for awhile.
