So as I listened to Cena's speech on Raw last night I thought, okay this is nice. He's admitting defeat, being really classy about it, and extending a hand of possible friendship to the Rock, or at the very least showing respect. I almost felt like, hey, Cena's not so bad. Maybe I can like this character.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I realize that all Cena did was prove what I said in a previous post. He showed us once again that nothing that he says really matters. Ironic, that at one point in his promo he said that he was not going to come out there and back pedal, which is EXACTLY what he did.

He said all this hyped up BS about how he HAD to win this match and that it was the end for him if he didn't, that his back was to the wall. Apparently, that was all, "hot garbage" as the Great One would say. He comes out last night and basically says, it's okay. He lost, no big deal. It's not the end of the world. It's not going to change him in any way, life goes on. In other words, the loss meant nothing and everything he said leading up to it was BS.

THIS is one of the most common complaints that people have with Cena's character. I know it's something I've heard brought up on the PWTorch podcast a lot. I guess if we're going to be fair though, we can say that other wrestlers sometimes do that too. They talk something up as being so important, and when it's all over, we realize that it didn't matter at all. Oh well, just something that irks me about pro wrestling in general I guess, though Cena seems more guilty of it than others.

There was NEVER a better time to turn Cena heel, especially with a babyface Brock Lesner returning. The Lesner return is huge enough on its own, but a heel Cena turn happening at the same time would have sent future ratings though the roof. I guess Lesner is, hopefully, enough though, and will get more people watching and talking about the WWE. IF we ever get a Cena turn (seeming less and less likely every day), they can save it for another ratings boost at another time. Smart business I guess.

Gamerforlife hit it on the head with Cena's speech last night. Yes, he didn't make any excuses, the better man won, blah blah blah but the bottomline is that is just flat-out boring. His character *could* have been slightly interesting after the loss (and a rematch only works with Cena losing and chasing), but it was just more of the same. Disappointing writing and creativity there.

Brock F5'ing a smirking Cena was a nice touch.

WWE creative has been in the gutter for quite some time now, and despite recent changes to the staff it's still crap. They need to ease up and give the wrestlers some freedom with their character and promos instead of having them memorize stale scripted material.

I've just gotta say, I was LOVING the Daniel Bryan/Yes Chants yesterday. DBry is without a doubt my favorite wrestler in WWE (and the REAL best in the world) and hopefully the reactions he's getting will cement his place at the top of the card.

If you search YouTube or read rspwfaq.com , his post Raw speech to the crowd is up. Cool stuff.

Brock Lesnar being back is freaking awesome, no doubt. But I'm even more excited about the Rock announcing he's got his sights set on the WWE Title. I really hope there was sincerity behind that statement and he's back on the active roster. But I'm betting it's like the last time he said he was back. We'll see him again just in time for Wrestlemania next year and rarely other than that.
