I've been playing Dragon Warrior Monsters on my Gamecube/Game Boy Player but decided to try it on my other Game Boys just for fun.

IMO the original DMG was kind of terrible. The screen is really low quality and I was constantly fiddling with the contrast to see the background detail.
The Game Boy Color is a vast improvement in terms of picture quality. That thing is sharp. However, the fact that the screen doesn't have an internal light-source is a turn off for both models.
(I'm planning on modding my DMG to be back lit, but that's more of a novelty than something to improve gaming.)

B-b-but the GBA has Ultimate Card Games!!! (I know the DS does now too but :P)

My big fat man hands can handle the SP quite well. Took a bit to get used to the L/R buttons but now I am good. I'd much rather have a brighter screen and a rechargeable battery also.

Personally I prefer the bulk of the Game Gear, that think is damn comfortable! So the battery bulge on the Color fits me quite well. I didn't have a game boy growing up, but I don't think the feeling would have been different. I love that thing and I've been playing it like crazy! Looking for games and planning what to buy next... My inner child is taking over my man-body.

I am actually playing Castlevania Double Pack on my GBA Micro. Did test it out for my GameCube adapter and it look nice on the big screen.

I don't have a GBA, but I'm willing to bet a lot of the discomfort comes from having the screen directly between the D-Pad and buttons. When I first had my DS Lite I thought I'd want to set the GBA games to display in the bottom screen and was surprised by how terrible that felt.

Although, the Sega Nomad has the same screen placement as the GBA and I find that comfortable, so maybe there's more going on there. I think the GBC is comfier than the Pocket, actually, because it has a nice semi-chunkiness. So there's that.
Ah, oops, I meant GBA SP, the flip top.

Thank you! I can forget getting one of these then.

I was thinking about getting one of these:

I need something that protects the screen AND have a light source for playing on an aircraft, I figure this fits the bill. Anyone have an experience with something like this?
I always recommend these - see my post in pg 2.

I like it. Although it looks a bit bulky. Is it bulkier and/or than the Handy Pak?

Not nearly as bulky, no way.

Some day, I'm going to get a game boy color with a backlit screen and buttons in mint condition.

Ah! Then we're in perfect agreement. I don't like anything about the SP.

Would you happen to know if
THESE have an LED light or the regular crappy light like in the Handy Pak?
