Which SNES cable for XRGB2+?

Post by narcispy »

Hey guys, brand new here.

I am purchasing a XRGB2+ and I'm trying to figure out which RGB SCART cable I will need for my US SNES model 1. Any links would be great.

I think you need to make sure you're using japanese SCART cables specifically for anything that'll be plugged into the XRGB.

Japanese SCART cables have different pinouts see.

After going through 3 bad SNES SCART cables (problems with bright screens screwing up the picture - and one was only wired for composite) I finally found a seller that has high quality correctly assembled SCART cables wired with raw sync, and the proper capacitors and resistors.
eBay - retro_console_accessories.
retro_console_accessories sells Japanese and European cables.

As AppleQueso mentioned, you need to either buy Japanese 21 pin RGB cables for all your systems or you can do what I did and get a Euro SCART to Japanese RGB pigtail, then just buy European SCART cables for your systems since they're much more abundant. If you decide to use European cables, make sure you always run them through the converter cable so you don't damage any of your equipment; There's power running through certain pins of SCART cables and it's different on both types.

Also, if you haven't read through it already you should check out the XRGB Wiki @ Junkerhq.

Yeah I was looking at that ebay seller asked them the similar question.

This was the cable I am looking at, does it look right? You do bring up a good point about getting that adapter and just using European SCART cables. I'll probably only use the thing for my SNES and maybe my slim PS2.

That cable looks right to me.

retro_console_accessories is a very reliable seller.

So... interesting story. I got it in today. Does anyone happen to know a site that lists what the menu does in the XRGB2+? I've looked at that retrogaming.hazard-city.de site and most of their menu settings are for the XRGB3 now. It came with some kind of cable that's SCART on one end and has about 4 connections on the other (xbox, ps2, snes and maybe sega?) tried it and it worked for about 10 minutes, went to rearrange my wires and now I can't get any type of input from the thing at all. I can't figure out how you can even change the input from 31khz to 47khz. Can anyone shed some light?

And nevermind... I'm either a retard or there's something seriously wrong with my SNES that I just bought.
