Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Resident Evil 2 for Sega Saturn with 4 meg add on-Cancled

Post by holaback »

So I was reading though a old GameFan magazine and was reading how originally in the works RE2 was gonna be ported to Saturn

In addition to that it was going to use the 4-meg cart add-on and the game was going to have all of type of enhancements such as animated backgrounds etc. Damn too bad this was never made due to the Saturn being on it's last legs at the time and was canned. This game would have been epic! It would have been nice to see what capcom would have added toward the sega saturn version.

I've heard about this, I think IGN got to play the beta code a while ago and did a on feature it. It did look cool.

Do you have the ability to scan the magazine article? would love to read it

I remember reading that RE2 was coming, but don't remember the 4meg comment, Pretty cool. RE1 on Saturn was my first real exposure to the series. I remember how envious I was when RE2 came out on the "other machine". But I acquired a second hand PS1 that same year I believe.

Here is the article retyped by me:

Resident Evil 2 oozes its Way to Saturn...with a 4 Meg Shotgun Blast!
This is about as good as news gets for the few people still interested in Segas flagging 32-bitter(hang in there guys) the SS will use the new 4 meg ram ar for some major enhancements. "Like what?" you ask i the manic glee. Cleaner and higher res tectures for starters as far as more varitiey in enimies and acual bg animation

Supposedly Virtua Fighter 3 and Shenmue would have been released on the Saturn with the RAM cart as well.
That little cart could have really opened some doors for the platform.

Too bad. RE2 is still the best Resident Evil. Would have been nice to have better backgrounds.
