about to mod SATURN, soldering iron suggestions please

Post by room4gello »

I just ordered the chip from racket boy. Now i have to go buy a soldering iron, what brand, model, watt/heat?, tips should i get. and what solder is best too
I know how to solder so dont freak out, I allways did it at my job with their gun though and only wire to wire, never to a chip.

ps. i dont have that job anymore cant use that one, plus it was a gun not a hand held screwdriver type which i hear is better.

get an adjustable wattage iron. 25 bucks will get you one that will do well. practice soldering on a small waste chip ahead of time though so you dont mess it up.

My best advice would be to get a fine tip -- if you have a wide one, it will be very tricky being precise.

Make suree to use smaller gauge resin-core solder.
