Ok Puzzle Quest is amazing. Why didn't I try it until today?

Post by Mozgus »

So Bejeweled was the first puzzle game I obsessed over ever since Tetris on the NES. Eventually I pulled myself away from it. I heard this game Puzzle Quest taking the world by storm but I never paid it much attention. I recently tried the PS2 version and but the text was so microscopic on screen that I had to show mercy to my eyes and never play it again. Today I tried the PC version, and it's superior in every possible way. They basically took Bejeweled and threw in the 1-on-1 battles of the Puzzle Fighter series, with a ton of very genius RPG elements. This will make for another fantastic low-spec game to throw on the laptop, and LAN with a friend on.

Puzzle Quest DS and PSP are both great. I like the DS version best as the touch screen is a good interface for this game. PSP version is a little prettier and plays just fine. I'm sure the PC version is fantastic, but I loved playing this game on several vacations.

I played it for the 360 and really enjoyed it. I plan on picking this up someday...when I finally get a few other games out of the way. Its really addicting and the story and adventure elements in the game make it stand out.

Just bought the Wii version for my mum for her birthday along with bust a move. The wii remote interface is terrible and there's no way to use the d-pad to select gems. Other than that it's exactly the same as all the other versions. I wanted to get it for her DS but I couldn't find it anywhere, every single shop had 100s of shit DS games, all shovelware apart from lego indiana jones, same goes for the wii. All shovelware apart from no more heroes and lego indiana jones, and the games I chose obviously.

Why are shops stocking this utter shite? Do they not realise that it won't sell, at all... Why don't they get decent games in stock, they might actually sell a few copies, instead of having these dusty shelves with tonnes of crap on them that nobody even glances at... I just don't get it. Is it because this shovelware is dirt cheap for them to buy and that they can sell it at £39.99, not that anyone sane would buy it at that price...

Sorry about the de-rail.

Puzzle quest owns on DS, was the first platform it came out on and I bought it because I was intrigued by the blurb on the box. I wasn't sure about buying it, knowing it was from an unknown publisher and just looked like the rest of the shovelware crap on the DS. I'm glad I decided to get it though! Very pleasantly surprised, which doesn't happen much these days. You just can't gamble on games these days.
