Re: Let's have a western animation thread
I can't bring myself to watch Young Justice. I've always had a strong hatred towards teen sidekicks, and Young Justice is a team full of them.

Ha yeah. I laughed and the wife asked why. All I could say was "Gardner's a dick."Gamerforlife wrote: Also, TONS of DC fan service, there was a great joke for Green Lantern fans in the last episode that made me smile. Apparently, two of JL's current Lanterns weren't too keen on the suggestion of bringing Guy Gardner to the league![]()
Not sure if it's the same ep, (I think it is) but the one with Connor finding Match, and Lex using the post hypnotic suggestion on him... That was a KILLER episode. Very awesome.
Superfriends was better than Teen Titans. Superfriends.Gamerforlife wrote: It's also leagues better than Teen Titans was.
Even with these guys:

I appreciate your feeling about 'kicks. But Young Justice is literally like Justice Leage: The younger years. It's a serious/funny show. Don't let Teen Titans sour you on it. It truly is awesome. Right up there with Justice League/Unlimited, and I'd even venture to say Batman Beyond. (my opinion)BurningDoom wrote:I can't bring myself to watch Young Justice. The big reason I liked Teen Titans (comic or animeeeeerrr, animation) -- though I liked Young Justice more when it was penned by Peter David.indecks wrote:I appreciate your feeling about 'kicks. My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

What really works well too is the fact that the actual Justice League shows up a lot in the show and is often a part of the storylines. This is why it feels to me like the spiritual successor to Justice League Unlimited. We even see the League in action sometimes, which is awesome, and the character designs are so similar to their Justice League Unlimited counterparts. Plus, Bruce Greenwood is the perfect successor to Kevin Conroy as Batman.indecks wrote:I appreciate your feeling about 'kicks. But Young Justice is literally like Justice Leage: The younger years. The sidekick thing is sort of nice because you can see how it frustrates some characters (like Red Arrow) to not be viewed as important or dependable as the Justice League. Plus, the league itself has been shown to question how reliable kids are. In fact, I laughed out loud at how the League was debating whether or not to let Captain Marvel stay in the group after discovering that he was really a ten year old, then Wonder Woman calls out Batman for taking a young kid (Robin) and grooming him to put his life in danger and be like him. They were even discussing what age a kid should be considered mature enough to even qualify for the League. I loved seeing the Justice League debate the pros and cons of having young kids be super heroes.
The show takes the fact that these are inexperienced kids seriously, and I like how they've worked that into the stories. Rather than be a show where the kids are these super cool, heroes with lots of one liners, it's more about the team proving themselves to be worthy of association with the adult heroes and maturing as the series goes on. That makes it a show that I think works for both young and adult audiences in a way that Teen Titans never did, not that I didn't enjoy that show mind you. Young Justice is much better though, and more adult friendly.

Agree with, or acquiesce completely.
That scene when Wonder Woman was buggin Batman about Robin and when she says "so he'll end up like you?!" and he just responds with:
"So he doesn't."

The 10 Worst Episodes of Batman: The Animated Series.
I can't specifically remember most of those episodes (it's been so long since I sat down and watched it), but Cat Scratch Fever stands out in my memory as being pretty terrible.

Re: Let's have a western animation thread
I started watching Young Justice today. So far I'm really liking it, except for the art style. Justice League looked a lot better. The new art seems anime-influenced but it's not appealing like Avatar/Korra. Superboy's characterization is pretty good, though. Superhero TV writers have gotten a little more serious lately.

lol awesome. Love that show. Got all of them in 720 rips for the HTPC. I can't seem to find any good HD rips of Flapjack episodes anywhere though. And the only DVD's that Ive seen are stupid "Volume 1" type crap that have 5 episodes on the disc.
