Youtube has a pretty good April Fool's joke today.

And deep within the bowels of it lies an even better one.BoringSupreez wrote:Youtube has a pretty good April Fool's joke today.

Putting Toonami back on last night was simultaneously the coolest and cruelest thing Cartoon Network could have done. I absolutely loved it.
I mean, dear god, did they go the extra mile with this. All the animations were the same, but then they had new voiceovers for Tom, episode previews for the CURRENTLY AIRING episode (even for Bleach), ads for the series box sets, and, hell, they even did a review for Mass Effect 3. It was pretty cool.

Goddammit!!! I can't believe I missed this! I misspent so many hours as a teenager watching all these awesome shows. Wasn't Rurouni Kenshin part of it at one point?
Re: Best April Fools? Return of Toonami on Cartoon Network
Yep. It was (around 2003), but Ruroni Kenshin wasn't on last night so you didn't miss it.foxhound1022 wrote:Goddammit!!! I can't believe I missed this! I misspent so many hours as a teenager watching all these awesome shows. Wasn't Rurouni Kenshin part of it at one point?
Lineup was as follows:
12:00 Bleach
12:30 DBZ
1:00 Gundam Wing
1:30 Tenchi
2:00ish (Tenchi ran about 12 minutes long and threw everything off) Outlaw Star
2:30ish Big O
3:00ish Yu Yu Hakusho
3:30ish Blue Sub #6
4:00ish Trigun
4:30ish Astro Boy
5:00ish Giganator
I stopped after Trigun because I needed to go to bed. I would have really liked it if they'd been able to show Kenshin and hell, even Cardcaptors and Sailor Moon would have been pretty sweet, just to round out some of their longer running shows. Only so many hours in a night though. I'm impressed they aired what they did.

I wish I knew about this ahead of time, I'd have recorded it.

I was really hoping for Sailor Moon after DBZ came on and I had forgotten about Cardcaptor Sakura, that would of been sweet too.Michi wrote:Yep. I've never cared for Big O but Yu Yu Hakusho I would of watched had I stayed awake. Trigun I had seen enough of on Adult Swim but I would enjoyed seeing it again.
Re: Best April Fools? Return of Toonami on Cartoon Network
Sailor Moon was such a long running staple of Toonami that it would have been great to see it, especially since they were airing most of the episodes last night uncut. Sadly though, I think it's stuck in licensing limbo, so Cartoon Network wouldn't have had anyone to ask for permission to show it even if they did want to air it. I think they had the same problem with Tenchi, that's why they aired part of an OVA.KDub wrote:I was really hoping for Sailor Moon after DBZ came on and I had forgotten about Cardcaptor Sakura, that would of been sweet too.

I was never a big fan of Big O either, but it was nice to see an episode from the first half of the series, instead of the last half of the series that they keep airing. As for Yu Yu Hakusho, it might have been for the best that you missed it. I don't know what happened, but somehow they screwed up the aspect ratio. There were big black bars on the sides and screen was all squished. It was a little odd
