and what's with the disk swapping so early in the game? I guess that's gotta be one nice perk for PS3 fans with the extra blu-ray space

That would be Rex leading the Krogan not Grunt. Plus as by what they said the game should take in to account if Grunt is dead or not. The result of not keeping him alive in 2 would be not having that character on your team, choices as Bioware said.MrPopo wrote:Sure there is. He might be dead on your save file and the designated replacement has no reason to follow you around. Plus, he still needs to lead the Krogan. He can't just go gallavanting around the galaxy.ATARI800XLfan wrote:Exactly, there really is no reason he can't come back after the mission where you meet him again.

I noticed the same thing, it seems all the main, priority quests are on one disc and all the other quests on the second one. You might not be as disappointed with the ending seeing as you have already been warned about it but trust me it felt worse for people like me that did not know about it, It felt like I was starring at the tv screen for a good 30 minutes after the credits trying to figure out what the hell had just happened, was probably not really that long. Did anyone else do that?Gamerforlife wrote:and what's with the disk swapping so early in the game? I guess that's gotta be one nice perk for PS3 fans with the extra blu-ray space

Playing through Palaven, pretty epic so far. Good to have you know who in my squad. The turret section was utter garbage though, as turret sections in games typically are. That's on my list of Game Design Don'ts, along with swimming levels, and protect/escort missions
I finally just said, "screw it" and played through that part ignoring the turret entirely. I'm a long range expert with biotics, got another guy on the squad with long range proficiency, and a tank who can blow away anything that gets near us. Screw the turret. Would have been fun if I could have put a squad mate on the turret though. Oh well
Took down that big large enemy you fight afterward the turret section in no time with warp + throw. Made him my bitch
Surprised he went down that fast, wait a sec. Okay, I AM still playing on Insanity.

There a certain irony to the first Mass Effect game with multi-player having a disappointing single player with a crap ending. I mean it's sort of a trend in the shooter genre to have games focus heavily on multi-player at the expense of a satisfying single player adventure. I'm not saying that the addition of multi-player in ME 3 has anything to do with the single player mode having a bad ending, just interesting that ME 3 seems to now fit that pattern in the genre. It's just ironic is all.ATARI800XLfan wrote:I noticed the same thing, it seems all the main, priority quests are on one disc and all the other quests on the second one. Personally, I couldn't care less about the MP mode. I actually find it annoying that that's all people are talking about if you go to some ME 3 forums. Yet another reason I dislike MP modes in my games. It just inevitably becomes the focus of all discussion, not counting this forum of course. I guess Mass Effect joins Resident Evil as another franchise that sold out and gave in the multi-player gods that rule this generation of consoles.

Twice now I've had my Shepherd just drop dead for no reason. How buggy is this game? I clear out an area of enemies, my game autosaves, CRITICAL MISSION FAILURE!
Game loads, still no enemies. Apparently, the game just felt like killing me for the fun of it
I even reloaded a game once while in the middle of a fight, and when it reloaded there were no enemies at all and I just waltzed over to the next part of the mission
I've barely scratched the surface of this game and it's already been buggy as hell. I know it's Bioware, but this is bad even for them.

All being said and done, this is my last Bioware game for the foreseeable future.
Reviews did not reflect on many negative issues, especially the ending. What for example was the Destuctoid "critic" smoking?
The story is more fast-paced than anything BioWare has done before and still feels like it's affording the player as much time as they need to explore and discover. While some niggling issues do persist in terms of controls, the storyline is supremely satisfying right up to its climax, which contains one of the most interesting moral dilemmas found in videogames (from a standpoint of long-term implications).
Bullshite.

I've been telling people for a long time not to put too much stock in reviews. I know there are some good reviewers out there, but in general, reviewers are very far removed from what I consider the real gaming community. They complain about things that gamers don't care about, and they completely ignore the things that gamers do care about. The fact that reviewers aren't complaining about the ending but the gaming community is, shows you how out of touch they are. Sadly, a lot of game developers are every bit as out of touch as the review community is, hence why we get such awful things as ME 3's bad ending (to be fair, I haven't beaten ME 3 yet, but what I've heard leads me to believe that the ending really is that bad).Pulsar_t wrote:All being said and done, this is my last Bioware game for the foreseeable future.

From what I've played of ME 3 so far, I'd maybe rate it an 8 out of 10, yet I've seen this game get perfect scores. Seriously, reviewers give out high scores today like candy on Halloween. 9s and 10s just don't mean much anymore.
On a more positive note, I love some of the new squadmates and I've found the dialog in ME 3 so far to be a huge step up from previous entries. Characters comment on more things and they ACTUALLY TALK TO EACHOTHER! I was so sick of Shepherd being the only guy people really communicated with in previous games.

Or, in other words, the reviews are mostly bought and paid for in advance!
