I wouldn't mind that.

Perhaps Nintendo would influence Sega to utilize their established franchises more.
The idea of Shining Force 4 developed by Camelot makes me nerdgasm.

Sega West to Be Diminished; Company's Future in Question
Serves em' right for finally releasing some games people give a shit about. I mean, releasing great games for a change... A great port of Sonic CD for everyone to enjoy for the first time since its original PC/Sega CD release. They go off releasing a solid HD port of Daytona USA. They got together with Treasure and gave us an all out fantastic HD remake of Guardian Heroes... with extras! Then there's the HD release of Jet Set/Grind radio and all of those rumblings about HD re-releases of Shenmue 1 &2. Who do they think they are!? Don't they know that the only way to make a profit and stick around is to give us 2 or 3 mediocre Sonic rehashes per year?

 You've just totally killed any sadness I might have felt. The mental image is too much.

Personally, I think Sega would be great as a Nintendo-owned developer. I think we'd actually see an improvement in the quality of their games.

They did not start CD-based consoles or online play. They had the first popular CD-based console in America, but not the first at all. They had the first console with built-in online gaming with the DC, but online console gaming was done MANY years earlier.
"ushered in" does not mean "was the first".

The fact that they've said they'll be focusing on only 4 core franchises concerns me.

Its difficult for me to imagine an industry without Sega.

I also have to say that, while I wouldn't exactly be happy about it, a Nintendo owned Sega would be a hell of a lot better than no Sega at all.

I dunno, the situation is unpleasant. Makes me feel like its 2001 again. Hopefully good things come of this in the end, but I'm not very optimistic about it.

should have said first CD based add on besides PC engine, and ushered in online play that was popular and for actual gaming.

as for not releasing more arcade games on console I blame that one on Sammy.

Plus the fact it was SEGA that opened the doors for future companies by finally defeating Nintendo's ILLEGAL MONOPOLY on third party developers. :D

Defiantly buying he new Alien game coming out this fall.

A moment of silence for the company that once defined and owned the video game and video console market.

As long as you make an episode of RetroActive showing exactly this ... it may not have been in vain.

I hope this is for the better in the end. A bit of restructuring is not a bad idea.

I agree, Nintendo should buy Sega, can you imagine the exclusives it would have? I mean, there isn't a Sega game out that really gets me excited to play. At least in the last 5 years or so... Sad acuatlly.
