The mail-order only Super Gameboy II is the one that will play your color games.

The game is displaying that message. The game can tell it's not in a Gameboy Color.

Are you sure about that? As far as I know, that is just a SGB with a link port

It can play the early gameboy color games with the black casing, but not the later clear games.

my super gameboy plays color games. i know there is something about the color of the cases though. i can play a black case Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening with no problem at all. Also, it adds colors to B/W games. Check wikipedia for a list of games is doesnt work with.

Before the "GameBoy Color" line, there was another line of GameBoy games that had colors specifically for the Super GameBoy. The packaging and label indicated that they had a specific color information for play on the SGB. But generally, GameBoy Color titles won't work on a SuperGameBoy.

I don't think I've seen most of the boxes, but every black cased game I've played worked. Where is the info on the label?

I think the real question here should be "Why are you playing Resident Evil Gaiden?"
