Original Game Boy : Guides and interest

I'm a big fan of the Super Gameboy. Except having the link cable option is really fun on certain games. I really thought the Flying Warriors game was pretty fun with 2 players.
The games do seem a bit over priced, though. They still sell them at gamestop and sometimes they are listed over 15 a piece for Super Mario World and FF Adventure. Thats a rip. They are just trying to get little kids (well...their parents) to fork out the cash.

Did you know that a Super Game Boy 2 was released in 1998 and it feature a link port?

Yeah I jsut checked ebay and carts on there own seem to be down to around £5 which is a bit more reasonable compared to the prices you'll pay for the same thing at a market. Compared to the price of loose carts for the mega drive and the snes they still a bit high although value is an subjective quantity, it depends how much people are willing to fork out. Thats what sets the price and I'm guessing nostalgia keeps the price high

Tetris and Pokemon are two of the most important Gameboy games, if not most important handheld games of all time. But I think the most important thing to consider now is solely Gameboy games or Gameboy and Gameboy Colour games? While there may not seem like that much of a difference, some games were Gameboy Colour only and they were really pretty.

By the way, what are you prefered model of Game Boy to play Game Boy original games?
Original, Pocket, Light, Color, Advance, SP?

Why? Is it because of the battery life, the screen quality, etc.?

I'm just curious... I currently have a Pocket, but I don't like the 10 hours battery life. Very too short for me. And AAA battery type isn't a right choice, I prefer AA type, probably because theses batteries are everywhere (in many electronic devices).

Either GBA or emulated on my GP32 - both use AA both get 8-10 hours on two AAs depending on sounds and what not. Mostly ease of use. In college I had my GBA with me most of the time, until I got my GP32. Charge it the night before, toss it in the bag with a couple games, GBA or GB/GBC, and I was off. I am not as picky with my handhelds screen quality as I can be with my televisions. Pretty much it comes down to if it powers up and I can play the game.

Now I am off to resync my GP32 and throw on a host of GBC games Ive been meaning to play. Come on Bionic Commando.

Huh.. this confuses me as AAA batteries are as easy to get as AAs... you might just not have them at your house. As far as the 10 hr battery life... I think the PSP and DS only get about 6-8 on their rechargeables... so 10 hours on some cheap batteries is pretty good!

I was saying that I prefer AA batteries because it's a lot more used in devices. AAA is pretty marginal, in my opinion. And yeah, I have a ton of AA batteries (many Industrial Energizer).

The PSP isn't a model for battery life. I have one and with a standard use, 6 hr is the very max. But with a "tuned use" (read here pandorized PSP), the battery life is very much longer, 10h probably. That is because I never use the UMD drive, everything is from the Memory Stick. And for the DS, yeah first gen DS is about 10 hr, but the Lite version is something between 15h and 19h (at lowest brightness).

GP32 is a good idea, samething as PSP to play GB games, but I really prefer to play on the original system, the feeling isn't the same

I'm more like a ... home gamer. I do not have any portable device to play gameboy games at the time, I only have the Super Gameboy and the Gameboy Player. I prefer the Super Gameboy because the SNES controller is better suited for gameboy games, even if this means I have to do without the extra colors of gbc games.
