I tried to get my tank James to move up so he could maybe strip down those shields with gunfire for me. I know he can take hits. He kept ignoring my commands. Then some guy tosses a grenade towards either him or Liara, I forgot who it was. I give the order to pull back to my position, and my squad mate just stands there.
Combat just gets buggy sometimes, but it's a Bioware game so....yeah.
which system are you playing on? The PS3 version seems to be buggier then the PC or 360 version. Just what until some of the later crew cutscenes and interactions. Some are better then in Mass Effect 2, including meeting all the team mates from 2.
360, I knew better than to get it on PS 3 and I'm not really a PC guy (not that any of my computers could even come close to running ME 3 anyway).
Yeah, I do like the writing in this one. It does seem a bit better than previous entries, which makes everything I've heard about the ending seem all the more surprising. I have heard that NPCs interact more in this game as well. I'm especially looking forward to the interactions between a certain two characters who've been by Shepherd's side in all three games.

Seriously. Screw you Shao Kahn I'm gonna play Animal Crossing.
Not really loving the gameplay tweaks, the cover system in particular is annoying me. I just don't like the feel of combat in ME 3. I'm getting by though. I like James. I've pumped points into his Fortification and evolved it around defense. He's holding his own on Insanity VERY well, especially since I gave him that Particle Rifle. I'm having him defend positions all by himself, while me and Liara defends other positions by locking people down with biotics. It almost seems like enemies are running into me and Liara just to get away from James lol.

Not trying to spoil anything but have you noticed there is one race not on your team this game but was on the last two.

There are a couple ways I could answer that, but if you're referring to my favorite combat buddy from ME 2, yeah I miss having a Krogan on the team. He had some of the best lines too.

Exactly, there really is no reason he can't come back after the mission where you meet him again. Grunt was a good character and I personally like the Krogans, good tank characters. If they do more character DLC like in the last game I am hoping they add a Krogan to the team, not like the team is too big right now.

Sure there is. He might be dead on your save file and the designated replacement has no reason to follow you around. Plus, he still needs to lead the Krogan. He can't just go gallavanting around the galaxy.

Just realize that Overload is used for Barriers as well in this game, unlike the previous two where you used Warp to take those out. I didn't know this until the end of the game basically. I thought Warp just kind of sucked...
... in comparison to Incinerate, yeah it just sucks.
Btw I only used the armour-piercing variant.. seemed pointless to use anything else.
Actually, I was just thinking as I play this game, why the hell am I fighting Cerberus so damn much? It's like Mass Effect 2, where you know the Reapers are this major threat, yet you spend the whole game fighting Collectors. Weird.

I'm learning a LOT of new stuff as I play this. Combat seems so very different. Add to that me using a class I've never used before. It seems so bizarre to me that my Shepherd as an adept can fire off powers pretty much non-stop with no cooldown and never use his gun. It's pretty awesome. On the other hand, getting pretty much damn near killed every time I'm out of cover for about 2 seconds is quite an adjustment too, especially since my Sentinel in Mass Effect 2 felt like an unstoppable tank.
