Oh. I thought this thread actually had a point. 'Cause if it did, my answer would be 2 words: Hell Yes!

Sometimes that can be interesting. It was mainly the playing-on-emulator thing that annoyed me... and random racial slurs (unintended, but still...).

I have no problem with AVGN rip-offs, but this guy's videos just aren't funny. At all. Just watching a game alone isn't going to be entertaining; it's the commentary that makes it entertaining.

Didnt bother watching much of that video but I dont see whats the big deal here? Sure he could edit the video better, but its not like skipping through the part where the game is loading is some overwhelming task. Pretty much every AVGN/reviewer wanna-be in youtube with less than 100 subscribers these days has a tedious intro sequence with footage from different games and some intro song that plays in the beginning of every single video...
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Well it's true that youtube is mostly full of people who're obsessed with the sound of their own voice, this's why I NEVER speak in my videos. This's kind of like watching a dvd with the commentary mode turned on, who the heck enjoys watching that? In his defense though he's a lot less annoying to listen to than a lot of other commentary people out there. I mean his comments are retarded and pointless but atleast he has a nice sounding voice.

Seriously though I know a lot of people like to turn their youtube videos into the "it's me!" show. Viewers are more interested seeing talent rather than someone make all the retarded sounds they normally make when playing a crappy snes game on their own. There's a lot of people who post videos who don't seem to understand what people out there want to see. Watching videos of retro video games is pretty niche already so turning it into the "everyone look and listen to me!" show will just kill the amount of hits you get.

The average person I know isn't into that sort of thing, myself included.

They're usually really cool/insightful. Of course, there's a big difference between a director/actor commenting on a movie they worked on and some dude playing an SNES game thinking he's the video game version of MST3K.

I do agree with your post pretty much though. People don't seem to think about their audience very much.

Classic Game Room does it well for the most part.
