With so much yen bleeding out of Sega, and a pretty good looking list of releases, one has to wonder if this is more the fault of the business management than the products.pankakes123 wrote: Sonic Generations

Re: Sega announces big loss
I liked Sonic Generations. I don't care about Sega though. It's not the same Sega from the 90s by any stretch of the imagination. I'll buy a new Sega game if I want to, but none of my fan-love is for Sammy Sega.
Older. Not wiser.

Re: Sega announces big loss
It's probably the bussiness management side, 7 billion is too much money to blame on the games. Sure, many were not particularly succesful and some were outright failures, but I can't phantom how they can add up to such a huge loss because their budget wasn't as big.J T wrote:With so much yen bleeding out of Sega, and a pretty good looking list of releases, one has to wonder if this is more the fault of the business management than the products.
Anyways, I hope Sega doesn't die (Again). Right now, Sega is providing us with well-made, non-cookie cutter games that are interesting. The modern sega is what I would call a good company, surely better than Activison or EA, and I see their treatment of creativity to be indicative of good treatment of their IPs if they release them again, which they will sooner or later.
If Sega dies again, we won't see a decent Streets of Rage again. The IP will either get lost forever, bought for someone who only wants to milk it with a bland cash-in or fail miserable with a mediocre game and be forgotten forever. Sega has the chance of seeing their IPs brought back in full force.
If Sega dies again, stuff like Space Harrier or Fantasy Zone will dissapear forever because they are not "big names".

I'd rather see Microsoft buy Sega. Would help their presence in Japan. Although Microsoft does not have a portable... So hmmm. Best Sega owns Sega.Damm64 wrote:I'm the only one that want's to see nintendo buying sega?

Well hey, we got the Viva Pinata games out of that and they are very underrated. I love those games.Damm64 wrote:After what they doing with RARE? Re: Sega announces big loss
Sega's main problem is that they are too stuck on what worked well for them in the past. They need to start making new franchises and start thinking outside the box again. I also agree that a new console would definitely help. I would most likely buy one. And if they were to create a predecessor to Segata Sanshiro, I would probably buy 10.
