ever not able to play games because of an injury?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

ever not able to play games because of an injury?

Post by xraydash »

Yesterday evening I got stung by a wasp on my right pinkie. I didn't cry but it sure hurt like crazy. Within the hour my hand was swollen and my range of finger motion was pretty limited. It's even more puffy today and holding any kind of controller is kind of difficult and painful. I've been limited to playing pokemon emerald (already in progress before I got stung) on a gba sp because it doesn't cause much discomfort.

So I was wondering, have any of you had an injury or some other temporary physical handicap that limited or prevented you from playing games?

I got a weird bug bite on my ankle that sort of puffed up, it looked like a bubble. While not directly stopping me from playing games, it was too painful for me to want to play. I cut it open which let what I assume was air under the skin out, but it was still annoying.
Other than that, I can't think of much.

Haha! My friend and I were pretty drunk and decided to have a high kick contest. So I held my hand about chest high and raised it about 6 inches after each kick. He couldn't hit it once I got it over my head, so it was my turn. I was doing pretty good and then he got to about 6 inches over his head. I had to kinda do a jump kick and I hit it, then I promply fell right on my ass and caught myself with my hand. It didn't really hurt at first but as the night went on my wrist swelled up really big. I had to wear a wrist brace and I couldn't play video games or guitar for like 3 weeks. Stupid yet funny, I'm easily amused. See also roman candle fights and drunk hiking in the forest at night with no flashlights. But that was when I was much younger.....

I broke my left arm, and I thought I could never play games for 3 months, I was wrong I can play a game with a normal controller, but playing games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band with a Guitar shape controller and playing drums is where I can't play, the only way I could play guitar is playing it like a Sitar

Back in the day, I broke my right hand and had to have a cast for 6 weeks. Thankfully, my thumb and first 2 fingers were free. However, as soon as I got home from the hospital and the cast had fully dried, I had my Dremel tool out adjusting the openings so that I could use my SNES controller.

When I was in the hospital wheen they diagnosed my diabetes, they had to put an IV in my arm to deliver saline so they could rehydrate me. To keep me from pulling it out in my sleep, they put a large brick of foam over the place where the needle was, and strapped it down with tape. They had an N64 there, but I couldn't really play because I could barely move my wrist and thumb because of the brick.

Six months ago I broke two fingers on my right hand. I had to wear splints for about two months, during which it was really difficult to hold a controller. But the biggest problem was that for the first month or so, my fingers were really sensitive, and even moving them around too fast caused them enough pressure to really ache. The problem? I had just started playing Super Mario Galaxy. No more waggle for me!
