I don't think it's large enough yet for it, but a VIP forum would be great for if/when this place turns into retro-gamespot forums.

But you don't become a VIP by just asking. You'll have to go through the three trials.

One does not simply become VIP!

So seriously though, what would you consider to be good requirements for being able to post in a VIP section? Date joined?

A VIP section would not work. Segregating a portion of the community, no matter by what criteria, could only have one of two effects:

-The VIP section would not have a large enough population to sustain meaningful use.

-Any people of substance on the board would exclusively haunt the VIP section and the site's user base would cease renewing itself.

It was a neat idea though. But I agree that it wouldn't work, and I think it's because it wouldn't get enough traffic to be worth it. IGN had a special board for paying members, and when I used to be one and could read the board I noticed it was mostly dead. No interesting topics, and the ones that were there had few posts. The problem was that the board had no focus other than to be a VIP board. No one knew what to do there.

seriously if it ever does get as bad as ign and the like we would just need more mods to police the forums. Which is why we need members to just let the stupid threads just roll off your back or go in there and make a post like mj said to maybe help stomp them out.
