Armored Core 5
Re: Armored Core 5
So have you played it yet MrPopo? Thinking of going out and picking it up today.
Re: Armored Core 5
I have not. I might get to it this weekend, but more likely I'm going to try and clear off Neptunia mk2 and XIII-2.brunoafh wrote:So have you played it yet MrPopo? Thinking of going out and picking it up today.

Re: Armored Core 5
I've actually been waiting for this game, but unfortunately, I still don't have enough to afford it. I'll be on PS3, and when I do get it, I'll be up for whoever wants to get a match going.

Re: Armored Core 5
So... I'm of the opinion this is the best Armored Core game.
The multi-player aspect is integrated into the game without being shoved in your face, just like Demon's/Dark souls. It's always in the background and you can jump into a level with a team mate at any time, but you don't have to. You can opt to not do any multi-player at all if you want but there's really no reason not to, being that being on a team doesn't affect your gameplay experience one way or another unless you willingly hire a merc or join up with a team mate to engage in a territory battle or just a story level.
Gameplay is just phenomenal. Much tighter than 4. There are frame rate issues (I'm on PS3) but nothing game breaking so far. Only when you're playing with others and the action is very intense. I'm pretty sure I've seen the worst of it and it's not too disruptive. Customization levels are borderline ridiculous, as per usual. Probably would be very daunting for a new comer but personally I love spending hours customizing my AC.
I have tons of thoughts on how great this game is but I think I'll save my wall of text for a certain someone's blog.

Re: Armored Core 5
Well I watched some videos... this is going to sound funny, but are there optional HUD options anything? Always loved the HUD's in the old games... lol. This game looks very different.
Re: Armored Core 5
You manually turn the HUD on and off in-game. There's a "scan-mode" that shows you more details about your ammo and booster status (shows you the HUD that is missing from normal gameplay while you're in "combat mode"). It also scans the area for enemies with recon units you place (you can even place surveillance units with certain parts) and speeds up your energy regeneration. I think it was a great idea and is one of many things that changes things up and makes the series finally feel new again.
See the ring/crosshair in the videos? That serves as the HUD when you don't have the big one up showing all the numbers and such. Probably hard to notice just when watching, but each of the bars on the ring/crosshair represent booster and ammo status.

Re: Armored Core 5
I... completely forgot about AC5. I have AC: Project Phantasma, used to have AC4 on PS3 (<-- bleh) (also cigarette smoke is my enemy and the disk smelled so much like it that I brought it back)... Found out about this then completely forgot, yay! Ah well, I have too many Pokemon GBC/GBA games I need to play through again
(excuse for not having the money for this and XBL Gold, and I'm not getting it for the PS3, I don't really like the PS3 and mine's screwed up and there's something wrong with the A/V port and at best there's a couple almost invisible lines going across the screen with some almost invisible dots...)
Re: Armored Core 5
I see From's voice acting standards haven't changed at all
The story makes no sense whatsoever and is cheesy to the point of being fungal, but the gameplay keeps me going.
Even with copious storage we still don't get Japanese voices in those cringe-worthy games.. RE6 is set to get JPN VA via "DLC"
