Ah. Might be why. I think they also had some fix for the Linux version, so maybe they pulled it. The Windows and OS X versions only took a couple minutes to download last night.

Fortune Summoners: Secret of the Elemental Stone

The game looks pretty cool. Apparently it's a side scrolling action adventure that has you controlling multiple characters with different special abilities. I'm looking forward to the release of both this and Chantelise.
Fortune Summoners just released on Steam today. It's currently $15, but will go for $20 once the introductory sale is over.

Presumeably. The last game that Nyu Media translated and published was Satazius, which was only available through PC digital download services. You can sometimes find physical copies of the Japanese versions of these games through specialty sources though.

Katawa Shoujo has finally seen a full release!

http://katawa-shoujo.com/
Finally got around to downloading it and playing (aka reading) through the whole story.
It is a really good story and despite there being some "eh" moments here and there, it actually made me think a few times. It took me about 6 hours to go through and I did it all in one day, I couldn't stop reading for long.

For anyone like me who is weary jumping into a visual novel (lets be honest some of them just like slash fiction are just perverted) this one isn't bad. Once you actually jumped onto the romantic story line there was some sexual intercourse but it was pretty tasteful. The artwork wasn't anything you wouldn't see in a rated R movie and the wording wasn't any worse than your standard off the shelf women's "romantic novel". You can censor it to a degree if it still goes past your tastes and I've only played through one possible story line I believe so I can't comment on them all.

One other thing I will note, this is more of a novel then it is a game. Some Visual Novels give you lots to interact with and lots of choices to make (such as Don't Take It Personally Babe it Just ain't Your Story) but this one the choices were very few and far between. It is more like a classic adventure book, you read for a few chapters and then get one question to flip you to a new set of pages and go from there.

Thanks for the writeup KDub. I really liked the beginning of Katawa Shoujo, but then it developed a problem and would freeze up my machine every time I tried to load it. I need to try it again on a new laptop.

I read a pretty scathing review of the game that made it sound kind of bad though. The main point was that it didn't have enough to do for it to be called a videogame, and there wasn't enough interesting artwork for it to be a comic book, so it just kind of fails on all accounts. I did like the writing for the first maybe 30 minutes of the game I was able to play, but supposedly the characters get to be kind of grating after awhile.

Yeah I can't call it a game, it is a book/novel what ever you want to say. But not enough interesting artwork? That is absurd! Not only are there some great single screens of work but there are actually full motion animations between a few chapter; which were really good! If the people who made the cutscenes for each story arc decided to make a movie, I'd probably consider buying it (if it was tasteful).

You can watch all of them here not a lot of spoilers in them that weren't obvious of the type of story arcs that they are but still be aware.

These games are available now through the main site. They will hit digital distributors like Steam a little later.
