Dreamcast Keyboard and Mouse games?

Post by pankakes123 »

I'll be getting a keyboard and mouse for my Dreamcast soon, but I'd like to know some of the best games that support it. I'm aware of Typing of the Dead and Maken X, but is there anything else that's good? I've heard great things about Unreal Tournament, but does that have a single player?

I don't know about the DC version, but on the PC UT's single player was just playing against bots. I believe Phantasy Star Online let you use the keyboard for chat.

Don't forget Quake 3 arena. Confidential mission supports the mouse as well as Outtrigger.

I'll second Quake 3 Arena. I love getting in on an organized match online when everyone has a BBA with KB+Mouse.

As proud owner of two Keyboards and I think a mouse but no Dreamcast, I want to ask. Quake III arena has splitscreen, doesn't it?

I also wonder, is there a way to connect several Dreamcast together to play in LAN?

I don't think there's true lan, but you could connect both Dreamcasts to the same router... Which would require the prohibitively expensive broadband adapters.

Well typing of the dead is pretty much essential if you have a keyboard for the dreamcast. But it doesn't use the mouse.

The Ferrari game (forget it's real name) is the one and only game that does, I believe.

Also, Maken X supports Keyboard and Mouse? Never knew that! Must try it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Maken X supports Keyboard + Mouse. At least that's what I've heard.

I remember Maken X not working with the Keyboard and Mouse. My roommates and I tried it "back in the day" and I remember us being disappointed that it didn't work.

I think Soldier of Fortune supports the KB&M, but you have to boot the game with them plugged in. Otherwise you have to start over and wait through the 10 min load times all over again.

I found this:
I couldn't find a complete list online so I'm giving this one a bump. Can someone help me with an "official" list. Boy I was bummed last night when I found out Starlancer does not support the keyboard and mouse.

These games are confirmed by me or on their packaging to support the keyboard and/or mouse:

Chu Chu Rocket
Hidden and Dangerous
Outtrigger
Phantasy Star Online
Quake 3
Rainbow Six Rogue Spear
Soldier of Fortune
Typing of the Dead
Unreal Tournament

These I don't know about...can someone confirm?:

Confidential Mission
Railroad Tycoon II
Silent Scope
Stupid Invaders
Worms Armageddon
Worms World Party

Do not list keyboard or mouse compatibility on packaging:
Conflict Zone
Incoming
Omikron
Spec Ops II
