It seems like they started doing this fairly recently, with the Dreamcast re-releases and various Genesis games being transformed into iOS apps. Hopefully, we'll see more of the die hard classics get released or perhaps, a not-shitty sequel.

Only console they haven't really tapped is the Saturn. I could see a NiGHTS downloadable release do really well, especially on portable consoles. Perhaps a Panzer Dragoon Collection as well.

As much as I would like to see ports/remakes of Saturn games, I have a feeling that they don't port Saturn games as much because of how complex/difficult it can be to properly emulate the Saturn. There's a reason why it took so long for Saturn emulation to be good, and even then the only good Saturn emulators are on a Pc or Gametap. They were able to port Nights into dreams to the Ps2 in Japan, but unfortunately SEGA never bothered to release it in the U.S. despite fan demand

Aah, that makes sense. Wouldn't want any Sega programmers jumping out of windows in frustration.

Those games are probly better left within the rings of saturn.

With nearly any other system, I'd agree with you. But Saturn games are so expensive that porting to modern systems would increase the audience by a lot, I bet.

Come to think of it, Guardian heroes and radiant silvergun were fairly popular on Xbox live,.

If they'd just give us PSN versions of Policenauts, Burning Rangers, and NiGHTS, I'd be happy.

I think Sega is the company with more potential money on past IPs and games of the industry, by far.

Now, unlike Nintendo, they don't have the original teams anymore and releasing sequels offers no benefit compared to new IPs other than word of mouth. And if the game isn't up to standards, which is likely, they will just ruin the reputation of their games needlessly.

They will make sequels sooner or later but they first will need to be confident about it. That or some new president will get into the company and pump out crappy sequels.

OutRun has not had a new game in the series since OutRun 2 SP, which was made before Yu Suzuki left the company. (The Xbox game, is OutRun 2, not a new version). There have been very few OutRun games through the ages:

OutRun (86)
Turbo OutRun (89)
OutRunners (91) (Some consider this a spin-off but I fail to see why)
OutRun 2 (03)
OutRun 2 SP (04) (Kind of a expansion pack, but one that is bigger than the game it expanded)

So we have been 6 years without an OutRun game. Nothing to worry time-wise, it's the lack of Suzuki's involvement that hurts.

Its a nice thought but they would more than likely screw that up just like they did NiGHTS 2 and make you dislike the "new" Sega just that much more.

The ONLY Sega game after the Dreamcast era that I found to be in the "good- excellent" range was Virtual Fighter 5. Which just re-enforces the fact that even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in awhile.

Hey now thats not fair the yakuza games are outstanding if they made shenmue 3 with the same team id imagine it would be outstanding. I would be satisfied with even just an hd remake of panzer dragoon saga just keep all the same voice dialogue. Sega does not deserve all this hate they arnt capcom for christ sake  i think they have learned what fans want when they made sonic generations.
