Okay...but again, I never compared gameplay. Gameplay or how good the game was never mentioned. My only point is that for the most part, it is cheap to collect for the Master System and that games at those prices aren't the kind of games you'll normally come across.
I'm not comparing gameplay either. The NWC isn't a real game in and of itself. There's no reason why anyone would want it (aside for the sake of just having it), while it is comprised of three common and dirt cheap games. Meanwhile GAW is a real game, not e.g. Sonic 2, Columns, and Outrun. Worlds apart. Apples and oranges.

Okay, fine. I don't disagree with any of that. But the one thing that they do have in common is a high price tag. Which is the only part of those 2 games I'm talking about. They're expensive. Much more expensive than the average NES or Master System games. Don't ask me why, I don't make the rules. I don't understand why a game with 3 common games is worth a fortune. But that was the only point I was making. Take it up with the collector's that demand that high of a value from it.

It is not cheap to collect for the SMS
But there are plenty of cheap arcade and action titles to get for the SMS

If you are just going to grab the first 10 things you find, yeah you'll spend a $5 each on Aztec Adventure, Ghostbusters, Great Baseball, Shinobi and the like. But start trying to buy all the Alex Kidd titles, all Wonder Boy, Golden Axe Warrior, NTSC Sonic, Ninja Gaiden etc, you'll be spending a pretty penny. Not to mention that finding parts/accessories for the SMS is getting more expensive all the time. Most game stores aren't going to have 10 SMS controllers around like the do NES controllers. Even the middle $15 to $30 titles are just hard to find sometimes, so on the occasion you may need to just fork over the premium.
That depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for more premium games like Ninja Gaiden and Golden Axe Warrior, of course it's gonna be more expensive. But the same can be said for NES games like DuckTales 2 or Dragon Warrior III. On average, in my experience, I've found Master System games cheap. I've probably bought ever single one of the Master System games I own for under $10. The accessories are the same way. You can find Master System controllers and guns (don't know what you're talking about with the controllers being uncommon, I find em all the time) for cheap, but the 3-D Glasses are expensive of course, it's a unique and sought after collectible. The NES has it's share of them too with R.O.B., the PowerGlove, and others.

I don't see a big difference in prices on collecting Master System vs. NES. Well, other than the console itself. Master Systems do go for a bit more than NES's.

Cheap Master System games that are good games:

-After Burner
-Altered Beast
-Cloud Master
-Columns
-Double Dragon
-Fantasy Zone
-Golden Axe
-Golvellius: Valley of Doom
-Outrun
-Paperboy
-R-Type
-Shinobi
-Sonic the Hedgehog
-Space Harrier
-Spider-Man
-Streets of Rage
-Thunder Blade
-Wonder Boy in Monster Land
-Wonder Boy III
-Zaxxon 3D

I think that would be a fine Master System game collection, and not one of those games cost a lot.
