Yeah, and the same applies to Golden Axe Warrior. That's not you're average Master System game. Shinobi, R-Type, Cloud Master, Space Harrier, Sonic the Hedgehog. Those are all great Master System games that are affordable.o.pwuaioc wrote: Collectors differ. You're right that a complete collection of NES games would cost more, but not many people here are after complete collections. For those who want a bunch of good games to play, the NES is dirt cheap. For those who want the Nintendo World Championships gold cart, well they're going to have to pay a pretty penny.

You're seriously comparing Golden Axe Warrior, a Zelda-clone, to Nintendo World Championships? Also, have you seen the price of the US version of Sonic the Hedgehog for the SMS lately?BurningDoom wrote:Yeah, and the same applies to Golden Axe Warrior. I'm never compared gameplay. I was talking about both of them being a lot more pricey than your average NES or Master System game.o.pwuaioc wrote:You're seriously comparing Golden Axe Warrior, a Zelda-clone, to Nintendo World Championships? You should take a NES instead of an SMS. I love SMS, but it's hard to find good games at a cheap price.
Re: Master system vs. Nes 8 bit
Nes is definitely better. The master system library is not all that impressive imo. The games are decent but its nothing that you couldn't already get on a NES.

Do you have James "Buster" Douglas Boxing? That guy will run you $250 + on the SMS.Duke.Togo wrote:Compared to acquiring a full set of US SMS vs. NES the SMS is very affordable to collect. I wish the highest games on the NES were only $50. I come at it from a collectors perspective, so if you just want to pick up and play a few fun games your mileage may vary.o.pwuaioc wrote:I've found the NES to be way, way cheaper to collect for than the SMS.Duke.Togo wrote:Why choose one? The SMS is relatively inexpensive to collect for and has some great titles.
Re: Master system vs. Nes 8 bit
Except one is a normal game regularly topping "best of" lists for the SMS, while the other is a crappy compilation of already existing cheap games. I don't feel compelled at all to get a NWC cart for my NES collection, but I had to have Golden Axe Warrior, which has been the most expensive game I've ever bought.BurningDoom wrote:I'm never compared gameplay. Govelius, R-type, Golden Axe, Rastan, Double Dragon, Phantasy Star, Wonderboy 3, Power Strike all come to the top of my head for games I like on the Master. But Metroid, Castlevania and Gradius crush them all.dreamcast4ever83 wrote: What do you think? What master system games did you like? Was it as good as Nes?
NES had more good games and I feel the graphics for Nintendo were better regardless of palettes and Mhz...but that was prolly due to programers. I still play SMS games with my PBC on my Genny...I have no NES hooked up anymore.

Re: Master system vs. Nes 8 bit
Okay...but again, I never compared gameplay. Gameplay or how good the game was never mentioned. My only point is that for the most part, it is cheap to collect for the Master System and that games at those prices aren't the kind of games you'll normally come across.o.pwuaioc wrote:Except one is a normal game regularly topping "best of" lists for the SMS, while the other is a crappy compilation of already existing cheap games. Re: Master system vs. Nes 8 bit
Lets set this straight
It is not cheap to collect for the SMS
But there are plenty of cheap arcade and action titles to get for the SMS
If you are just going to grab the first 10 things you find, yeah you'll spend a $5 each on Aztec Adventure, Ghostbusters, Great Baseball, Shinobi and the like. But start trying to buy all the Alex Kidd titles, all Wonder Boy, Golden Axe Warrior, NTSC Sonic, Ninja Gaiden etc, you'll be spending a pretty penny. Not to mention that finding parts/accessories for the SMS is getting more expensive all the time. Most game stores aren't going to have 10 SMS controllers around like the do NES controllers. Even the middle $15 to $30 titles are just hard to find sometimes, so on the occasion you may need to just fork over the premium.
