That is insane...INSANELY AWESOME! If only there were more games based on beloved children's stories where the protagonist committed suicide after failure...

I liked Catherine's Game Over when you ran out of continues or decide to quit, and also, the game is a pain the ass to play, and I really hate dying in the game, especially that you worked so hard to get so far and you pretty much got yourself stuck in the hole and you cannot go back, especially if you ran out of undue.

Though I recognize their entertainment value for some people, I've always kind of hated Game Over sequences. It just feels like the developers rubbing salt in my wounds, adding insult to injury. Just makes me want to flip off the TV, symbolically giving the developers the finger

Now that'd be some motivation.

There was this game in the arcade called "Toki" where you were turned into a monkey who "spit" at the enemies. The gameover screen (continue actually) was a guilt trip. i can't find it, but it had your girlfriend who was a beautiful princess sobbing her eyes out begging you to continue or else they're going to kill her. I remember going through my pockets to find another quarter frantically ultimately to apologize to the nonexistent girl and run away.

EDIT: HAHA I found it. pretty tame nowadays, but in the days when you got a generic game over... Game over at 7:00

Mortal Kombat has been mentioned, but what about the "pit of death"?

The music on the Truxton continue screen sounds like it should be in a cutesy platformer rather than a badass shmup.
