Dreamcast Half-Life Too Big for CD-R Help!

So this thread was originally made so I could find a download for Half-Life on the Dreamcast. I was given a link, and I downloaded and uncompressed the file. I realize the .cdi file must be burnt onto a CD-R, and that is what I'm trying to do. However, the .cdi file is 812 MB, and CD-Rs only store 700 MB. Is there a different download in which the .cdi is smaller?

Also as a note the Half-Life release isn't technically homebrew. Half-Life was supposed to be an official release but was canceled at the last second, so these releases are just the leaked game.

Be ready for the long loads even with the fixed versions. I found it frustrating going to a wrong hallway, wait for a load, turn around wait for a load then move on. However, like the PC there are add on levels. There is Zombie game that was on PC Format that got a Dreamcast Conversion, look up Anthony.

It really depends on the manufacturer but a lot of CD-Rs you can actually burn 850-900mb to. A lot of software is configured to burn less than that though just to keep from burning all the way to the edge.

Basically you need to enable the "overburn" option in your burning program and hope that you have CD-Rs that are capable of more than 800mb.

I've burned plenty of discs that are a little over 800mb.

Sorry but this is not helpful. I know there is a version of Half-Life for DC out there that fits on a regular CD-R, but I can't find a download for it.

In whatever program you are using to burn the image file you need to have the overburn option selected.

Bear in mind that a lot of dreamcast selfboot images really need you to use the burner's "overburn" feature, as they are larger than 700mb even with reduced audio quality (straight GD rom dumps are 1 gb and larger, so I'm betting the 850mb image is already meant to be burned as a backup)

Unless this is some 99minute CD/R version I'm unaware of, the fact that it's over 700mb is irrelevant. I can tell you that. Hit 'burn', insert in Dreamcast, and away you go. Sometimes you may have to overburn, but that's only with a few rips out there.

If it doesn't work, I'm sure it'll be some other issue not relating to the size of the rip.

Speaking from experience, I can tell you there are hundreds of rips that are over 700mb, that run on CD/Rs just fine.

It isn't irrelevant, the size is larger than the CD-r and means you should turn on overburn to get the program to burn it properly (or in some cases even continue).
