With all the ballyhoo over Mass Effect 3's ending of late, I've gotten to thinking about what some of my favorite endings in games are. So why not have a thread where we discuss this stuff.
Just don't forget to hide specifics about endings in spoilers, or there may some rather cross forum goers here! :p
I'll start.
Chrono Trigger
I loved that it had multiple endings depending where you killed the final boss, but my favorite of the endings was killing it as soon as possible. This way you got the ending where you were in a room with all of the game's developers and they were mad at you for rushing through the game, and not taking time to enjoy it despite all of the effort they put into it. Hilarious!
Phantasy Star II
Finding out it was humans from Earth that were at the heart of the Algo System's troubles just blew my mind. The music was perfect for that scene too, and I like how it doesn't really tell exactly what happened to the heroes of the game. They just sort of head into battle, and it's up to us to image what happened next.
Final Fantasy IV
I'd never seen such a cinematic ending in a game before (I'm talking about the SNES version, not the re-release on the PS1). The ending was a good 15 minutes of bringing closure to pretty much everyone who came along on your adventure, which I really appreciated. Also the music for the whole ending sequence and end credits was amazing. I would play this game again and again just to hear the music.
21 minutes. Wraps up the story of every character in the game. I especially love the climax where Terra lets her hair down and the airship flies away into the blue sky. And as expected, the music is amazing.
The whole twist with you having to save Akane was intense! Upside down sudoku!? genius. My mind was also blown when I found out that she was zero!
Persona 3
That was truly a beautiful way for the MC to go. Not to mention Aigis voice during that scene was extremely well done. The voice actress nailed those lines. The answer also further explains the ending to 3 and begins to set up Persona 4's plot.
Mega Man legends 2........just kidding :p that ending and the sub ending in 999 have to be some of the biggest trollings in video game history
It's very long and satisfying (I know, that's what she said. Now you guys can't make that joke.) There aren't really any loose ends. It's emotional (more so than any other MGS game except maybe MGS4) and the music on the credits is great. Plus, I love how every MGS game ends with a teaser after the credits.

I loved the ending to this, it was very emotional, especially after hearing the speech by Eva about The Boss.
I loved how you play the game to save this sleeping girl, then they kill you for doing it. There was allot more going on, but that is all I really remember.
Looking to play this game again sometime, don't remember a whole lot, at the time I thought it was one of the best I ever played.
The worst ending with Harry in the crashed car, gives the game even a bigger sense of mystery
Ape Escape
The first/fake ending where professor, Buzz and Katie are awaiting for Spikes return and then he runs towards them while the sun is rising and the music plays
Portal
Half Life 2
Pitfall the mayan adventure
Dad?!
Tony Hawks Underground 2
Warcraft 3 Human ending: Epic, thats all I can say. (I doubt that counts as a spoiler)
System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Mega Man X
