WWE '12 Game Discussion and Meet-up Thread
I've only played a couple hours and I'm trying to figure out what the new engine and controls are. I didn't play a lot of SvR '11, but I had the previous games and this seems like more of the same only SLOWER. I thought the A.I. was interesting - blocking/reversing was tough and I'm playing against Husky Harris (who was kicking the Rock around - yet I had no problem beating guys with CM Punk , weird - Rock is a 96 rating!) and losing. Jobbers no-sold like John Cena and I still dislike the signature move -> right into being able to hit your finisher sequence. I guess I need to just adjust how long it takes to get to that signature move.
Couple other notes:
CM Punk’s “Cult of Personality” entrance theme and music made the game, despite only being a couple months old. Kudos to THQ there as I'm sure the cut-off was close.
$0.99 to open all the unlockables in the game – very nice that they aren’t jacking you for content already on the disc, although there were DLC characters like HBK, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler that were available for $0.99 THE DAY THE GAME CAME OUT ALREADY. If I have to win 100 matches or something to get Macho Man, I'm just paying the buck. I really like games that you have to play through to unlock stuff though and last year I paid the $1.00, played a couple matches with Terry Funk, and never picked it up again.
Good roster, but do we really still need someone carrying the ECW belt around? I do like that you can easily change who is champion in the settings – no need to play matches with the belt on the line or anything.
I like that they use the phrase "Breaking Point" for submissions and I'll never get why they discarded that ppv name (not the theme of matches for a whole show per se). Breaking Point is a great name for a PPV and they want to be like the UFC so there you go!
Custom character creations – rated and downloadable onlinelooked good. The streamlining of having to print out a template and manually do it yourself was fun in WWF No Mercy – or when you were 21 years old and had a ton of time on your hands. This is much easier, and I liked the Angle and Jericho models guys had created.
Going green with online manual is great, except when they leave out how to leverage the meter when you are trying to kick out of a pin (do you hold it, or just try to aim and time hitting the spot on the meter?). Everything else is in the online manual except for that piece.
My PSN id is brad21126 - maybe we can get some matches together.

Well, this didn't go over as I had hoped
I really enjoyed WWE All Stars over this one. Who knew the arcadey game would be so much fun.

For WWE '12, how do you unlock the Marvel and DC characters?

There's a top notch Jericho CAW out there also that you can download. They've confirmed he will not be a future official DLC in this game.

What?! Why?! He's one of the greatest ever, and he's currently on the roster.retrosportsgamer wrote:There's a top notch Jericho CAW out there also that you can download. They've confirmed he will not be a future official DLC in this game.

^ Your guess is as good as mine. There were quite a number of tweets back and forth from the WWE'12 guys and dedicated fan sites around it.

So, how exactly does the kick out bar work? Just hold down and release? I hate how vague the instructions are as I mess around with this game.
