I need to re-buy this soon. I returned my copy. The demo was a lot of fun, but the story seems AWFUL. On par with The World Ends With You in the bad story department. But TWEWY was also very fun on the gameplay end.noiseredux wrote:I'm about an hour in myself. I was another one of those weirdos that enjoyed XIII. Though I think this one is pretty great from the little I've seen of it so far...

...wait, people didn't like TWEWY's story? It started out generic, but it widened up by Josh's week.

Wow, just played the demo and got really sucked into this. I didn't hate XIII, like so many others seem to have, I enjoyed it though to the end but thought it was a bit of a mediocre game. However, from what I've played of XIII-2 it seemed to improve upon XIII's formula a lot. Only thing I didn't care for was adding the quick time events into fights. I don't hate QTE, I actually really like some of the old Sega CD games based solely around them, I just don't think they work real well in an RPG.

has anyone else faced Atlas yet? He's brutalizing me. HELP!
EDIT: nevermind. Took me some experimenting with paradigms, but after 10 or so tries (
) I did beat him haha.

Isn't he the first boss? If he gave you trouble you're in for a rough ride ahead.noiseredux wrote:has anyone else faced Atlas yet? He's brutalizing me. HELP!

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
I totally agree!! It was a much improved sequel and it was very enjoyable.bmoc wrote:I'm several hours into FFXIII-2 now and my feelings are pretty consistent with most of the reviews that are out there. FFXIII-2 is an improvement over the first game in almost every respect. It seems Square-Enix just made a laundry list of the criticisms of the first game and tried their best to correct a majority of them.
Minor spoilers below:I am one of those weird people that thought FFXIII was pretty good but I also thought it was one of the weaker entries into the series. As you can imagine, I am really enjoying FFXIII-2 due to the improvements. That said, Square-Enix didn't get everything right on the second try. The story can be a bit nonsensical at times and the dialogue suffers from it. However the voice acting is very well done. The actors that do Serah and Noel should be given major props for pulling off some corny lines extremely well. I think pretty much everyone will agree that Chocolina is a bit on the absurd side but you can easily skip her unimportant dialogue so she doesn't annoy me too much.
Essentially I am enjoying everything about the game except for its weak plot. I love the visuals, the battle system, and the admittedly eclectic music selections. Overall I'd give the game 4 out of 5 at this point. We'll see if I still feel the same way after I finish it.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
Ok so I'm at the next boss battle, the one in 10AF where the land is covered in darkness paradox. I got the weapons right before his battle so I know I'm pretty good as far as equipment is involved. But I think I'm just really underpowered. Noel and Serah are both still lvl 2... how much grinding to level up do I want to do at this point?
Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
Ummm... you should have more than enough CP to level up several times just from killing Atlas (who's the second boss, actually, the first was the guy leaning out of the portal in 003, I had forgotten about him). Are you using the crystarium properly?noiseredux wrote:Ok so I'm at the next boss battle, the one in 10AF where the land is covered in darkness paradox. Final Fantasy XIII(-2) is very easy outside of a few battles. You must not be using the Crystarium
