MUSHIHIMESAMA FUTARI 1.5 + BLACK LABEL - High Scores
Re: MUSHIHIMESAMA FUTARI 1.5 + BLACK LABEL - High Scores
The d-pad might be horrible for fighters, I'm not sure. Will find out when I play DoA4 with a friend tonight. It is OKAY for shmups.

It usually comes down to skill > type of controls. I've never felt like the D Pad was the reason I died.
That being said, its no Saturn Model 2.
Oh, and good choice of character Mike. Palm A is teh shizznit. Kills bosses way fast.
If you have any questions about this game... well, you know

Wow - my first run was my best. Actually got further but lower score (stage 3 - boss), only 19mil. Played about 7-8 runs so far. Starting to see where some things are - but there is a lot of shit in this game, wow.
Am I missing just a ton of stuff - or is my score going to increase exponentially on stages 4 and beyond?
Also - Black Label, that is by download only, yeah? And do I just have to have an account or do I have to be paying for xbox live to download stuff?

I'm so glad someone is playing this!
Stage 3 is quite mean. If you need any help/pointers, let me know
Re: MUSHIHIMESAMA FUTARI 1.5 + BLACK LABEL - High Scores
Yeah... is there any strategy for scoring? It seems like enemies gems are not dependent on type of shot or distance killed. Is it just a matter of blasting through the stage?dunpeal2064 wrote:Yayayayayay!

I nearly got to the boss in stage 3. Nearly every second of play on stage 3 was an OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I MADE IT OUT OF... OH NO, ANOTHER ONE!!

Ok, so you are playing 1.5 Original, right?
1.5 has a pretty basic system, but it does have that risk/reward factor.
You'll see your multiplier in the upper corner of the screen, with 2 numbers. The top is your overall counter, which wll be colored, and the number under that is your stage multiplier. For now, ignore your stage multiplier. I do.
here is the main aspect of scoring: When your multiplier number is green, killing enemies with the Tap Shot will make them drop Large Air Gems and Large Ground Gems. When your number is Blue, using your Hold Shot will result in the same thing, enemies dropping Large Air and Large Ground Gems.
Another important thing to note is: When you are using Tap Shot (Or when not shooting at all), you automatically collect all Air Gems. When you are using Hold Shot, you will automatically collect Ground Gems.
This is very important, because the Gems value increase the CLOSER you are to their initial spawning point. You will see the gems glow green when you are close enough, and that makes those gems worth many more points. So, its not necessarily a good idea to just constantly auto-collect gems, as picking them up furhter away from where they spawned makes them worth less points.
Large Ground Gems picked up close enough to turn green are worth the most points.
Thats basically it. Collect large gems as close to their spawn-point as possible, build up your multiplier, and kill the bosses with a nice multiplier.
One thing to keep in mind though: The games Rank (dynamic difficulty) is directly linked to your overall multiplier. So, the better you score, the harder the game will get.
If you have any questions, need an example video, or want scoring details on other modes (This one barely even has scoring compared to the other modes, it was supposed to appeal to folks taht found Cave's style too hard), just ask! I love talking about shmups

Gave BL Orig a cred for the first time in a while
Black Label Original
Dunpeal2064 - 170,798,424 - Stage 3 - Palm - 360
I'm more working on BL Maniac right now. I hope those other awesome modes get added eventually

I've hit 25M so far. Survival-wise, this game feels so tame after coming off of DDP Res, but the scoring is tricky. Definitely fun though. I'm sure I can get my score up much higher soon which is why I'm not upping a screenshot yet.
