Excellent post Gigapepsi man

While watching some footage from the HD collection I'd kept thinking to myself "Man I remember this looking WAY nicer last time I played it on PC"... I was right. Holy shit.

The worst thing about this? At least what makes it unexcusable to me? It was delayed like 3 or 4 times. You'd think with all those delays they would've ensured we got a perfect product. For games that are so heavy on atmosphere, you'd think they would've paid special close attention to things like lighting and fog effects.

Definitely not gonna bother with these. I'll stick with the PC versions and/or Ps2 originals.

The clarity and lack of fog is definitely a turn off to me, even as someone who's only played a chunk of 2, but yeah. It's like I sometimes say with older games, sometimes that gritty dirtier look benefits the game.

Looking at this one again, kind of mindblowing how awful the water looks. It's so damn sharp and completely awkward, the second comparison looks like they're standing next to a pool, and the first just looks like N64 jaggies revenge or something. Yikes.

I like how the rope in the remake just cuts off like it is floating in midair.

Poor Ito. Even he doesn't like the HD versions.

Someone probably looked at the water and said 'Yep, looks great, that will do'.

Man, that kind of thing really sucks. I feel bad for him too. To see your game downgraded like that and not be able to do anything about it... that's messed up.
My god... that's just inexcusable. I mean I'd be willing to look past a few faults here and there, but that seriously just looks like complete shit. I had a feeling this collection might be doomed just with all the commotion with the voice overs, sucks to see that it is indeed a botch job.

Vote with your wallets, don't let Konami think people want this crap.

Maybe that means I can buy it on the cheap for my collection.

The making of Silent Hill 2 that came with the PAL version of the PS2 release.

Transition from old to new.

That HD version comes off looking like an unfinished build.
