advice on tg-16 or pc engine imports

Hi Everbody,
I have a new love for my turbografx 16 system. After studying about the games and system I want to play imports since that's where the best games for the tg-16 are. Should I buy a pc engine 2 or get a import card to play imports on my american console. I would buy a pc engine but if I can get a core 2 that would be even better since it has av cables.
I know what most people would say is to own a turbo duo or a cd attachment but right now I love the hue cards. I also need help buying some great games for the pc engine when I get one. Any suggestions? thanks.
I love the arcade beat um up shoot em up top rail side scrolling games. Pretty much anything but rpg's. Thanks.

This is what I did. Seems to be the cheapest way to play the HuCard/CD library from both the North American and Japanese regions...

- Get an American TurboGrafx-16 (seems you already did this). Use this to play American HuCards.
- Get a Japanese PC Engine Duo. This will allow you to play Japanese HuCards and any CD-ROM game (those are not region locked).

American Turbo CD attachments and Turbo Duos are very expensive.

Core I or II will give you A/V, it's the "white" PCE that sticks you with RF (also known as a RF PCEngine). If you looking for a convertor, the going rate is about the same as a JP unit, so if you got space and like to collect consoles, a Core is the way to go. I just happen to score a Shuttle last week, but it's just for kicks for me since I have a JP Duo(region hack) and a Kisado convertor.

Another route to to have your system modified to play both regions. There is a great community over at PCEngineFX that you can pay to have it done. A SuperGrafx is also an idea, this gives you access to the JP Hu's AND the 5+2 SGX games.

PCE Games to get: Parodius, Bomberman 94, Final Solder, Gradius, Salamander, Battle Lode Runner and Street Fighter II CE off the top of my head. Also, the import of Magical Chase can be had for less than its' uber rare/expensive US counterpart.

Just get a modded Duo-R from doujindance. I bought one that is complete with box/manual and it's the main PCE I use.

Duo-R's are the most reliable of the PC Engines to begin with. He mods them with a region switch, rgb output (sometimes s-video output too), installs new cd lens, cleans the casing, and sometimes installs a blue led. You can play TG-16 hucards, TG-CD's, PCE hucards, PCE CD's and PCE SCD's with it.

Also, if you just buy a regular PCE now and later decide you want to play CD games, you would just be spending more down the road.

I can vouch for doujindance. I got a modded PC Engine Duo R from him and it's amazing, the quality of the mod and the cleanliness of the system you get is incredible. It looks brand new, and he has replaced most of the stuff on the inside (i.e. caps and cd lens) which makes it a much better and more reliable system than you would get from another seller. the region switch is really easy to use, and the seller is very good about answering any questions you might have.

this is the model I got from him. It's a little pricy, but you definitely get what you pay for
