Thoughts on Snatcher for Sega CD

Post by Retrogamer0001 »

Hey all, I recently picked up a copy of Snatcher on eBay and I'm VERY surprised - this game is AWESOME. I didn't really know what to expect from the youtube videos and word of mouth about the gameplay I had been hearing, but I'm really happy I picked the game up and tried it for myself. Although I'm only about three hours into it, I'm already addicted. The characters, the story, the Blade Runner atmosphere - it's a great mixture. The amount of humor in the game is even more surprising! Anyway, I just thought I would rant about how much fun it is and was wondering what you guys thought of it as well :)

I love Snatcher. Even if it's a little on the short side it's still a fun ride! It doesn't exactly have a ton of replay value though considering it's mostly story and the amount of "puzzles" is pretty small.

I've graduated to Policenauts which I've been taking my sweet time to play though. If you like Snatcher then you definitely need to check it out. If Snatcher is like Blade Runner then Policenauts is like Lethal Weapon in space lol.

Policenauts is pretty cool! I never finished it though. Snatcher is a game I would love to own but I don't wanna shell out $200 for it :p

Great game and a must play for anyone who owns a Sega CD. Must own for those who can afford it

I remember back in the summer of '98, my brother let his friend borrow Final Fantasy III (SNES), and he got to borrow a Sega CD and a bunch of games.

And while digging around the box of games, I came across Snatcher, popped it in, and was amazed. Easily became one of my favorite games of all time.

And yet sadly, the CIB copy I held in my hands was mistakenly placed on the retail floor and promptly stolen.

Someone stole Snatcher from you? Bastards!

Awesome game though, some of the best atmosphere in gaming, period. Well worth the price IMHO.

Gotta try Policenauts, especially since they finished the translation. No word on if they will make a Saturn translation? As I remember, only the Saturn version supported a light gun. Not the same without a lightgun.

Great game! But I could never justify paying the insane price for the Sega CD version, I have only emulated it. Think I'll check out the PCE or Saturn ports someday.

The local pawn shop has a copy for 179... the temptation to buy it is palpable, but I really don't want to shell out that much for a game I haven't really played. The money, realistically, needs to go to either a new 360 (old one is completely toast, haven't been able to get my NHL12 fix in like three months now) or PAX tickets.
