Favorited things to have while gaming?/setup

Post by dreamcast4ever83 »

Ok so random subject but i noticed that when i sit down to play some classic Saturn there are a few must haves which enhance my experience...

my set up:55 inch lcd with hdmi xbox360,componet wii, dreamcast vga 640/480 and saturn via s-video cable, snes (soon to be scart) I trade off with my other systems as to not have to many hooked up at once which include everything from atari 5200 to you name it.

1. beanbag chair (for comfort)
2. mountain dew voltage (for that extra boost and voltage is my fav!!)
3. electronic cigg (more time to game no smoke break)
4. kettle chips/candy (just incase of hunger)
5. girlfirend (for support,co-opp shurmps and great 2 players like cannon spike and jojo's bizzare adventure, and maby a quicky after an exusting boss battle lol

how bout you? what do you like?

I just recently moved, so I'm getting adjusted to my new "den" or "man cave" as some people call it.

1. A laptop for when I need to look something up for a game I'm playing (like what annoying missables I need to watch out for in an rpg) or when I need to go online just so I don't get bored waiting eons for a game to load (I HATE load times, thank you optical media). I have a mobile cart I keep it on
2. Peace and quiet, I generally don't like people bugging me when I'm deep into a game. In fact, I usually have my gaming sessions at night, when I know I won't be bothered.
3. A remote, I'll randomly feel like taking a break from whatever I'm playing and just want to switch on the tv sometimes, especially after some crappy level or boss has just pissed me off and I need to cool before I can get back into the game.
4. A comfy recliner, right now I have a double recliner with a spot in the middle for drinks and a compartment to put controllers, remotes, etc. in.
5. It's not essential, but I have a small, portable fridge in the room filled with Propel, vitamin enhanced, water. I don't really do Mountain Dew and sodas too much these days
6. I have a 32 inch Sony bravia that my PS 3 and Xbox 360 and Wii are hooked up to. I have to say, it gives me the best sound of any tv I have ever used before. Really enjoying Mass Effect 2 on it right now, hearing every bullet, every scream and every comment said during combat perfectly clear.

That's it, I'm not not too fussy. The den is small, which is convenient for me at the moment as a recent medical incident has made it hard to walk properly on my left leg and it'll be a few months before it's 100% again. Nice not to have to go very far when you're moving with a limp. I have shelves in the room too, so I have easy access to movies or games. My favorite room in the house right now

Nice! ya I just got done playing mass effect. Great game I really liked it and wanna play three quite bad. those aren't generally my types of games but that one is more like a rpg/shooter with great story and really fun gameplay.

I also agree nighttime much better for gameing dark, relaxing and everyone is sleeping so i don't get bothered :P

I have this tiny chair I've been using as my "gaming chair" since I was a kid, and it's still my perch of choice. Pretty weird, but it's a tradition.

I may or may not want an audience; it all depends on the game. I'm one of those nervous types who sometimes can't beat a complicated boss when I know someone's watching. If things aren't too skill-based, though, I love approaching games as a social activity and sharing/heckling/discussing as they progress.

The only other requirement is that the music is clearly audible -- and pronounced, at best. If the option is available I'm always fiddling with balance controls and cranking sound effects and vocals down a bit so the music can really shine.

I like to have a quiet atmosphere so it won't distract my gameplay. In addition, I turn on my laptop to read some FAQs or just kill time to wait while the game is loading. Furthermore, I even take pictures of my record when it breaks my previous record.

I just need a chair, a good screen, no spectators, and a good controller.

Really? I love it when people watch me play video games. I just hate it when they shout out what to do.

Oh yeah, when I'm ready to get into a serious game session, everything has to be just right. Must haves:

1. A nice cold bottle of water
2. I have two TVs in my room and the second one must be off or at least muted, because I can't stand hearing two things at once.
3. The area around/between me and my tv must be tidy, no distractions!!
4. Not always necessary but I usually do like to have a snack readily available. Preferably something that is not too messy/greasy. I don't want my controllers to get nasty and don't want any finger slippage. haha
5. TV at perfect volume/brightness

I think that's it and I'm good to go!

Why is this in the Sega forum?

For me, it's either a Coke or a beer, and some type of snack. Doesn't matter what, everything from chips to carrots, from pita and hummus to plain ol' soft rye bread. I'm a simple man. Oh, and blankets and pillows sort of propping me up are a huge plus.
