Driver PS1. Is Driver 2 better/worse etc.

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

Hi,
Ive been playing Driver alot lately and I noticed their is an ad for Driver 2. Well after doing some research the common opinion of the press seems to think that Driver 2 is pretty mediocre/average; especially compared to the original, anyway before I buy it I would like some opinions from you guys.

Thanks,
-RJ

Ok. Ive heard there are lots of problems w/ framerate and the game actually having a worse draw distance which is hard to believe because in the first one you can only see 50 feet before it drops into nothingness.

The second one doesn't look as good or run as smooth as the first. I still say it is worth the purchase if you liked 1 though.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. What about Driver 3? Supposedly it was really bad, I've never played it.

I remember San Andreas making fun of it though.

I thought Driver 2 was terrible. I loved the first Driver, just something about the replay editor and the whole 70s starsky and hutch type thing with the muscle cars. Awesome. Driver 2, added a pointless me-too feature with the getting out of the car, and watching a blocky stick figure run with 3 frames of animation. Well I say 'run', rather, skate over the floor. It was fairly enjoyable until it forced you to get out of the car.

Didn't anyone think that it lost it's challenge as soon as you could swap cars? At least in the first there was the additional challenge of only having one car so you were forced to drive carefully.

Skip driver 2 and just pick up stuntman, it's well worth it if you can track it down on ps2 cheap enough. The loading is annoying but the game is so rewarding it's very easy to see past it.
