Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
FWIW, I copy and pasted into Google search engine the URL of the hidden gems Saturn page, and I got a direct result. Not sure what that means, though.

Maybe Google needs time before it actually updates the results again?o.pwuaioc wrote:FWIW, I copy and pasted into Google search engine the URL of the hidden gems Saturn page, and I got a direct result. Not sure what that means, though.

Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
I no longer use Google. I use duckduckgo. When I search for "best snes games", Racketboy is the third result. I can see forum posts when I limit the search to racketboy.com, but I assume they are a few pages back in the general search.

Yeah I wonder if that's helpful information or not though? I put "rarest Saturn games" in bing and it was the first post. But the number of people that use Google as a search engine must be insane.Zing wrote:I no longer use Google. I use duckduckgo. When I search for "best snes games", Racketboy is the third result. I don't think it's relevant at all, as Racket said:Stark wrote:Yeah I wonder if that's helpful information or not though? I put "rarest Saturn games" in bing and it was the first post. Google traffic is the lifeblood of keeping the site financially healthy.
Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
I guess I was just saying that it must be something with Google that has changed and not the RB site itself.
I did a duckduck search for "Rare and Valuable NES games" and the first result is a link to the actual article, not the index such as with Google.

Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
I just did a search for "Collecting Retro Games" on Bing, Yahoo, and Google.
Racketboy came up as the second result in Bing and Yahoo, and seventh on Google :/
Wtf!

Re: Racketboy In Trouble: Google Search Traffic
The home page or the index pages come up fine -- again, it's the single blog post pages that don't in Google.ksloth wrote:I just did a search for "Collecting Retro Games" on Bing, Yahoo, and Google.

Racket Boy could just be getting the short end of the stick on a new Google algorithm update. They happen from time to time, and can be absolutely brutal. Or they can be like winning the lottery as a site's traffic skyrockets. It depends, but it sounds like you got the bad side of the deal.
