Why would someone get CIB if they have no plans on selling?

The whole idea of opening sealed old stuff just makes me so... crawly.

And it's just so... unsensible (is that even a word?) considering, again, you can easily sell a sealed game and get more than enough to buy an already-opened CIB copy along with a bunch of other crap.

I agree. I only open sealed games if they are still in print, or if they are still real cheap sealed even after they are OOP.

Haven't run into any sealed classic games in the wild; since I'm not "that guy" at Goodwill I probably won't for a long time.

That just doesn't make sense. For the money you would have received from selling it, you could have bought an already opened CIB copy and had some cash left over. It's a terrible financial move, if not anything else.

I would have opened it for that price. I wouldn't want to go through the hassel of selling it. Plus, your guys' reaction to it makes opening it even more enticing.

I opened the sealed copy of F-Zero I bought. With no qualms.

My local store has had like 80 copies since the thing came out. They're $10. I had no issues making that decision.

Also ... it was like a blast of nostalgia (something I don't get very often) opening a brand new SNES game.

If it were something ludicrously valuable, I probably wouldn't though.

But would that not give you all the more reason to open it? Especially if it were only a few dollars to begin with. I'd do it in a heart beat. Screw selling it. That doesn't compare to being the first to open a fresh new game after however many years.

I collect CIB only for snes games only. The main reason i get CIB is because its my favorite console and i just like to keep it in its original package.

I have to say its pretty expensive and sometimes the box is even more than the actual game itself. Im sure i can get by with just the cart alone, but i just want to have one thing organized in my collection. What better else to have CIB than my favorite console of all time.

My goal one day is not to have the entire collection, but a collection of games that i enjoy to play whether rare or not.

I dont understand people who collect unopened games. Sure unopened copies become more valuable with time (because a bunch of collectors have agreed to pay inproportionate amounts of money for sealed copies), but one of the great things about game collecting is that you can actually play the games that you own, while toy collectors for example cant take their toys out of their boxes because that would mean breaking the good looking original boxes, and people who are into toy collecting tend to be adults who dont like playing with toys anymore. With video games you cant read the manual or look what the game disc looks like if the game is sealed, and opening the seal wont actually break the game box.
