Why would someone get CIB if they have no plans on selling?

Post by Armymanis »

Hey guys. I have been questioning wheather i should start a CIB collection as well as my loose carts/games. I figure besides having the actual CD case to store CD's in, why would someone spend tons and tons of money just for a CIB game and not even play it? I am buying up tons of games, but I do plan on playing every single one of them when life slows down and I am only working instead of going to school and working.

I know it may look neater if its CIB, but why have it collect dust if your not going to plan on selling it in the first place. I say open up and play it! As long as you keep it in nice condition it should still retain most of its value.

It sounds like to me you are confused between CIB (complete in box) and sealed.

CIB has the advantage, when purchasing, of knowing you'll get the manual and all the inserts. I've found that Japanese SFC games are fairly easy to find on ebay CIB but sealed is another matter.

I like having all or most of the stuff that came with the game. Nintendo games I don't necessarily need CIB but it makes me feel good if I do get one like that because I know it will be in great condition. I play every single game I buy without exception. If I get a sealed game, I open it.

Because I like all the stuff the games came with, and it's nice having somewhere to put the game when it's not being played.

It's also easier to look at a wall of box spines, than game labels. Some platforms use discs where you can't even store them that way, or their cartridges don't even have labels on the end (N64)

Boxes are nice, they protect the game and all the materials that go with it.

(And yes, the logic here sounds more like an argument against buying sealed, not just complete games.)

I don't understand why someone would actually open a sealed old game if they got one. Even if your intent is to play it, you can easily sell most sealed copies for 2-3 times as much as it'd cost just to buy a CIB one.

I couldn't bring myself to be the guy that opens a game after it's sat there untampered for 15+ years.

Screw that. I found a sealed copy of secret of mans for the anew at a yard sale for 2$. I didn't own the game so you'd better believe I popped it opened!

You probably aim for cats when you're driving too.
