Are you a COLLECTOR, or are you a GAMER?

I am a gamer with a collection. I play as many of my games as time allows and i try to play varied genres to see what i may be missing.

At this point I'm finding I'm a collector first and a gamer second probably closer to a 75/25 split. As a single dad with two younger girls, a new job, and various other responsibilities I find I don't have much time to game and usually when I do it's with my girls. For example my oldest (8) is enjoying playing Wizard101 on the computer and Lego games on the consoles. My youngest just plays whatever her sister plays along with online computer games targeted at her age (5).

The one thing I still play often is my DS and that's because I can take it with me and the games are great. Things will change again at some point but I'm largely okay with where I am right now as I'm still trying to finish my collection of N64, Gamecube, Wii, GBA and DS games and I've recently added a CDX. It keeps me busy.

I'm really neither anymore, but between the two, I'd be more of a gamer. I collected from '08 until about 4 months ago. I got tired of sinking money into the hobby all together. I will be going through and getting rid of the games and systems I don't play sometime soon. For some reason here lately, I feel guilty about gaming. Even if I'm just planning on playing for an hour or so, I always have this nagging feeling that I should be doing something else.

Sometimes I'm more of a collector, sometimes I'm more of a gamer, sometimes I'm both, sometimes I'm neither.

Overall though, I'd say I swing more towards being a gamer. Or a gamer with a weird collecting obsession. I definitely only buy games I intend on playing though and I do try to play all my games.

However, I have been known to do some "silly" things before, such as buying games I already own because they're in better condition or are ridiculously cheap (e.g. a few months ago, a boxed, complete, copy of Banjo-Tooie for five British pounds in Gamestation? I may own the game already, but how can I say no to that??).

Man, I wish I could finD a deal like that . That's right at the top of my wants list for N64.

I'm a collector and gamer. But for as much shit as I buy, I would say I an more on the gamer side. I tend to sell a lot of games I don't enjoy much after playing an hour or two. No need to keep them around.

It's hard to say. I'd like to say I'm more of a gamer, however....

I love collecting, though admittedly I'm pretty casual about it. I only buy what I truly want to play, I never buy obscure items just for display purposes or bragging rights, I'm totally cool with greatest hits/remakes/ports/collections if they're easier to find than the original game, and I'll go the import route if I can save money (ie: Panzer Dragoon Saga).

I'm also one of those people who keeps a log of every game I buy and currently own. And I've never sold any of my games.

Although I wish I could spend more time actually playing games instead of doing "collecting stuff" I find that's not really possible these days. Most days I come home from work too exhausted to pop in a game, nor do I ever really have time to play for more than 1-2 hours at a time. It's much easier for me to head over to Racketboy/RFGeneraion/HG101 (while at work or wherever), it's through sites like this that I still stay "connected" to gaming without actually dedicating that much time to the literal game-playing aspect.

Currently these days I find that I am 60/40. 60 being the gamer and 40 being the collector. My income is still growing more and more each time I move up on the corporate ladder. I am finding that i more of a gamer yet i love to collect video games because it keeps me busy. Since I do not have many friends (3 or 5 total that I can actually call my friends), I spend my time mostly working 40 hours a week while handling school.

I play video games in my spare time and I collect them as well. I am currently trying to have my goal be to collect all the video games that interest me. Angry video game nerd and Pete Dorr are who got me into collecting video games. Now I watch Pat the NES punk, metal jesus rocks, happy console gamer, and captain8bit from the game chasers which all of them are really striving me to collect games more and more.

I of course do plan on playing them someday, but that will have to wait until i am retired for most of them. I say do what makes you happy and nothing can go wrong. I plan on someday achieving my goal of having a really awesome game collection I don't do this for bragging rights or to get famous, I do this because at least I can say hey I accomplished something in my life that i can actually be proud of. Getting your bachelors and having a good job is great, but I want to actually feel like I am good at something.

If having a collection of video games and being able to be an awesome gamer is something that I am good at then I am happy with that. Most people are good at sports and at having lots of friends. I am good at collecting video games and playing them while watching some of the great gamers/game collectors on youtube this planet has ever seen.
