3LCD vs DLP vs LCOS

I'm sure some of you have a projector, and I was wondering which of the above is the most interesting. I know DLP is known for deeper blacks and better contrast overal, but also heard the 'rainbow effect' to be a huge turn off for some people. Been using a Sony VPL-CX20 3LCD for a few years now, and have been very happy with it. Buying it second hand for 220 euro also helped a lot, lol. But in time I'd like to upgrade to a 16/9 full HD projector. I'm almost sure it's going to be a Mitsubishi. Fell in love with the Mitsubishi HC7000 a year or 2 ago. At least on paper that is, lol. The whisper silent 17dB was the major attraction for me, which is far better than the already silent 32dB VPL-CX20. It's also a 3LCD projector. But now, there's also the HC7800 and the HC9000. Both 3D projectors. The former being DLP, the latter LCOS. Now I have no idea anymore which is the better one...

All 3 have their advantages and disadvantages, going from noise level, price, ANSI lumen, 3D capability and image processing...

I have an older mitsubishi dlp projector, the hc1500, and I don't get the rainbow effect at all. It's more the person than the projector I think. If possible try to go somewhere and see a dlp projector in action.

Just checked the HC1500, and I must say, for an older model it has some pretty impressive specs. It has a 7 segment 4x color wheel and 1600 ANSI Lumen. Which is even better than the HC7800 DLP model that 'only' has a 6 segment 4x color wheel and 1100 ANSI Lumen... lol

But yeah, I guess seeing one in action is the only way to know for sure...

From my personal experience with regular TVs, DLP is horrible. Poor image quality and high display latency. Yes, there is a rainbow effect, but not terribly noticeable. However, it is greatly pronounced on large displays, as you only see it when darting your eyes around the screen.

When I decided to re-acquire a large display, I went back to the 3LCD projection. I don't think you can get any better than this. It's a shame they are no longer in production. The image quality is great. I considered LCOS, but I intentionally went for a 720p native display instead of 1080p, since all of my sources are 720p or less, and SD content looks much better at 720 for whatever reason.
