How do I fit a second GPU?

As you may already know, I want to get my triplehead setup running again but it's harder than it looks! After getting a 5770 Flex just so I could hook three screens with only one card it seems it only gives out 2 analog inputs, grrr.

So I'm looking to buy another one, hook them up between each other and have a powerful setup but a new card wouldn't phisically fit! Those things are so big the fan would be pressing against the other card!

What can I do? I don't want to change motherboards again =/

Far as I know, any card doing three monitor output requires at least one of them be using Displayport, so it's not the particular card you chose.

If you can't fit a second card though, then it's probably the motherboard. Is the on you have set up for Crossfire as it is? Usually they're spaced well enough, especially for relatively low end cards like the 5770.

You can get a PCI-E riser/extender ribbon cable - ebay has tons of 'em.
You might also look into getting a displayport-to-(vga/hdmi/dvi) adapter. They're pretty cheap too (compared to getting a new motherboard or additional GFX card.

I actually have one! My three screns are physically plugged and I can switch between them anytime with a couple of clicks but the software doesn't allow me to run all three at once. I think the issue is that I'm using three analog inputs and the graphics card can't give them to me.

I know that if I put a crappy videocard next to it, it will work, even if I haven't tested, it used to hold true for my old setup.


I didn't know those cables existed! Tough I'm at a loss on where to place the other graphics card or even just fix it to the case.


I'm thinking I might have a motherboard designed for ATI cards and I'm using a Geforce.

What are your specs? Motherboard model number being the most important.

You could take the easy way out and just get a Matrox triple head to go.

I also have a HD 5770, but dont plan on going xfire, going to get a HD 7850 when newegg has them in stock, it's going to be around the $250 area and better than a GTX 560 ti.

I have an ASUS P5N-D motherboard. The other specs are:

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4Ghz
2 GB of RAM because one got fried or something
NVIDIA GEFORCE 5770 FLEX
Two barracuda 500Gb Hard drives
A 480W PSU (or so), had a bigger one but got fried too

Yes, it's supposed to support triplehead on it's own. But even tough all three of my screens are working, it doesn't let me run them at once. I don't see any explanation other than the GPU lacking something to output 3 analog signals. I asked about it in widescreengaming but nobody answered my topic =/
