I will never forget my playthrough of Journey(PS3)

Post by loganm187 »

SPOILERS!!!!

My very first playthrough of journey was so touching that I cried at the end...CRIED!

All because of a glitch, really. I ran into a fellow player in one of the earlier desert sections and we from that point on were always side by side helping each other and always waiting on one another. It was a fantastic connection to have with a total stranger while traversing this mysterious land and I felt such a greater connection to this person than I would would have actually chatting back and forth or knowing his/her PSN ID like in any other co-op or multiplayer affair available. When we came across the giant flying beast I led the other character out of harms way and I felt like a big brother of sorts... It was great until...

At the very last of the snowy "Hide from the beasts spotlight" section my partner ran out too early and the monster flung him into a wall and he was just stuck there, continuously spinning while stuck into a wall. I tried everything to get the other player unstuck with no avail. The fact that I couldn't speak to this person and knowing it was an actual person and not some stupid A.I. character really messed with me. I then after several minutes trying to the player unstuck I left the area with him stranded with nowhere to go. As I marched through the snowy hills I was so damn depressed thinking I lost my partner. It was truly devastating and when I walked into that white void at the end I just started to cry knowing the game was ending and I could do nothing to save my friend.

I know the chances of this happening again is pretty slim and the fact that it wasn't scripted made it all the more beautiful. This is hands down the greatest gaming experience I have ever had.

I just saw a review of this game, and thought how amazing and unique it looked. I really want to play it, it's a shame I don't have a PS3.

Great story. I hope Journey makes its way to PC. I would love to see something like this built into a game, not simply because of a glitch.

Just finished my first playthrough, and it was an emotional game for sure. There is nothing I would change about the game, the pacing, music, length, co-op aspect were all perfect. The game was beautiful, often I stopped and just spun the camera, looking at everything around me just taking it all in.

I strongly urge anyone with a ps3 to give this game a shot, its a unique experience that you have to try for yourself to appreciate.

I'm kinda scared to play it again as those parts of the game being played alone after losing my friend were just so perfect I don't want to experience that part of the game with someone by my side...Just wouldn't seem right after what happened to me on my first and probably only playthrough.

I just finished my first playthrough ... it's simply beautiful! This is the closest a videogame has ever come to achieving a lucid dream. I strongly suggest everyone with a PS3 to buy it and play it through in one sitting; you have the time believe me. It also helps to have a decent sound system as it features one of the best videogame soundtracks, ever - it's safe to say it is part of the experience.

GOTY. Period.

Wait ... you guys are saying the companion is a real player?! My mind is officially blown! No wonder I had "met" 6 companions by the ending credits. I thought the AI was just amazingly smart; especially at the very end where my companion and I were "talking" back and fourth.
