You couldnt be more wrong, the only asians with true fair skin (without mixing) are Japanese and Koreans, they don not buy skin whitening creams, because they are born light skin.
The whole
skin whitening creams are only use in partial areas of China and South East Asia because the people skin color there ranges from fair yellow---> to dark brown. Some of the reason contributed to this is because the geographical location of those countries.

From an Asian, I see Anime as representation of Japanese people because they do look like them.

This is ASEAN meeting, which include all the Asians, anywho guess whos whos, just remember Japan, Korean, and portion of Chinese(some are tan skin) are fairer of the Asians.

So my point is that Japanese and Korean are fair/light skin unlike what that person said and the one who are buying these skin lightening lotions are those who are pure breed Southeast Asians. Pure breed because just like any cilivization, over period of time you will have people mixing all over.
Tony Jaa Example of Pure bred with no mixing, Just like people of South America, Southeast Asians varies from complexion to complexion. There are light ones and darks one, thus the darker one that cares about appearance would be the one buying the skin lightening lotion.
