Poll: Favorite way to play multiplayer?

Post by BoringSupreez »

This was the poll on Gamefaqs today. It's an interesting question, and it makes we wonder what the average Racketboy user considers to be the optimal multiplayer experience. For me, it depends on the game. For party games, split-screen and hotseat are equally fun, but FPS games are best via LAN. Overall though, I think LAN is most enjoyable.

Totally depends on the game. Mario Kart 64 would suck as LAN, but Rise of Nations is impossible with a console, let alone split screen.

I chose split screen. So much fun to be had by unplugging someone's controller when you are losing. Also screen peeking in fps' makes for hilarity when someone isn't paying attention/doesn't know the maps very well.

LAN, even if it is a splitscreen LAN. Mario Kart 64 would be awesome in battle mode with 8 players.

Online. I can play with people from far away, I dont need another couch, multitap adaptor, additional controllers etc and its a lot easier to find people to play with online. And it allows you to have a lot more players on the same game. And its more comfortable to play alone when you dont have to mind other people in the same room :D

Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I was hoping "with friends in my game room" would be an option.

Online for me, as it suits my very limited needs.

Split-screen would require you to be in your game-room with your friends, wouldn't it?

Online followed by LAN for me. I hate sharing a screen, and most of my friends live too far away to just come over whenever they please.

Online. LAN secondly. I can't stand people cheating by pulling out controllers or screen peeking. Plus, the smaller screen causes me problems. Split screen for 2 player coop is okay, and different, I believe.

I don't consider splitscreen screen peeking cheating. It's just part of the game.
