Which Version Is Best?

Resident Evil original version, or Director's Cut? Let's leave the Gamecube Remake out of it. I was wondering because the only version I ever had and played until the Remake was the Director's Cut. Wondered if I missed out by not getting the original.

Acording to gaming history, The pressing of directors cut disc was going to include extra fmv movies and more gore. But once again wasn't added to this disc.

People were displeased that they were buying the same game again with no extra content.

It may have been a ploy by capcom just to sell more of its cash cow.

I really prefer having physical media. It makes me feel more secure that my product is going to last. And I also have a slight "collectors mentality" and enjoy being able to look at a shelf full of games.

But the GOG version is half the price ($20 vs. $10). And I've also heard that the game has some problems working in Windows 7, yet supposedly the GOG version was patched to work fine with it.

So, thoughts?

Anything sold on GoG is DRM free so get the GoG version, burn it to a DVD, and you're good to go.

Whatever changes were implemented in the GoG version are likely patched into the physical copy. All the updated CD Projekt has done have been available, for free, as a patch to prior versions. .

Can't say I had any issue getting the game to run in 7 anyway.

Considering the "regular" boxed versions of the Witcher games tend to be at least on par with many "Collector's Editions", I think the few extra bucks is worth it. Actual music CD instead of MP3 download n' so on.

The Playstation versions of Lunars are the definitive versions imo if anyone wants to take advice from someone whos played them all.

I got The Witcher: EE for $3$1.75 from Steam. I'd just wait for a deal like that.

I prefer Steam to other distros because it conveniently lists every single transaction I've ever made on Steam in one place.

The Playstation versions of Lunars are the definitive versions imo if anyone wants to take advice from someone whos played them all.

I do wish they would have left the difficulty balance in Lunar 2. For some reason, they made everything in the game easier except the last boss, which was even harder than the scd version (Not that it quite needed to be, but it was an unexpected challenge)

Either way, you are right in that those are the versions to get, just wanted to point out that random difference
