I struggled with this for a bit with zero success. Here's my thread: http://racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... =dreamcast ...I lost interest pretty quick, but maybe some of my research will help you out?

Also, there aren't huge numbers of people playing it. I don't know where you got that impression, but it's certainly false.

Re: Dreamcast online??
I think more people are playing PSO on the 'cube online than DC. But even then...the two services I knew for that are both gone, last I checked.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Love that name original poster! I wonder how popular the Dreamcast online services and games were at the height of its popularity. I look at the games I have that say Online Multiplayer and I can only wonder what if.

Quake 3 was fake-popular.ExedExes wrote:Love that name original poster! I wonder how popular the Dreamcast online services and games were at the height of its popularity. I look at the games I have that say Online Multiplayer and I can only wonder what if.
Why do I say fake?
It was cross-platform with PC, so, there was actually a lot of people playing, but they were all using M&K and wiping the floor with the DC users.

I'm sure Unreal Tournament was done the same way. Oh how I would have loved to play that one with DC and PC usersRyaNtheSlayA wrote:Quake 3 was fake-popular.ExedExes wrote:Love that name original poster! As far as I know this server is still up. I registered last year for GameCube PSO, but I haven't tried to get on since.Flake wrote:I think more people are playing PSO on the 'cube online than DC. But even then...the two services I knew for that are both gone, last I checked.
The OP should check out this site for more info on getting online: http://onlineconsoles.com/
Re: Dreamcast online??
There are a few games still online with the DC, I was very much into keeping this alive and actively playing games online about 6 years ago, when on any night you could find people playing Q3 arena on the private servers.
The site posted onlineconsoles.com was one of my first forums ever and has a ton of good DC info, they also host a private PSO server for legit play only, with some entry requirements (not any one can gain access to it)
I have thought about ways to get my DC back online (no land line phone service, as it would just be a waste of money in my house) and looked into faking a dialup connection with a PC and it was very complicated. Of course you could get the BBA, but that will set you back about $150.

Re: Dreamcast online??
I spent several hours making a dialup adapter and setting up the software on an old laptop to interface the LAN with the dialup software. I never got it to work, and ended up playing PSO on my PC instead.
